Open beta Progress Wipe? or not?

I feel extremely stupid for asking this since i got over 300 posts but...Will all ship progress but wiped at the end of open/closed beta ?D:

Okie Thanks for helping But wont there be A MM to stop that? c: its like its natural to get a tier 1 into a tier 10 match without platoons

There needs to be a wipe. Especially since in the lower stages you get things much more easily. Plus that's when there may be cheaters too. It is depressing to lose everything, like I did when WoT was released, but it is fine. Plus you have experience so you know what your doing when its released. And to make up for your hard work in the Alpha/Betas you get a free premium ship(s). Also if they do it like WoT you get the chance to get limited time tanks, like the M6A2E1 in WoT. Or the German tank and that russan T-32 or whatever it was.

Once the testing phase is complete and before the public release, the client servers are wiped, in my experience.  This gives everyone an even playing field.

That's only partially true. Look at World of Tanks for example. People currently have all of these tanks, credits, experience and whatnot. New people come on every day. Basically not having a wipe would mean the same thing as if it were already released. Although because of how easy it would be to get all of these ships, gold, XP, credits it would be unfair in that way. Also it makes the game look fresh, besides, you do get something for participating in the Alpha/Beta tests, too.

Exactly, and if that is not enough then just wait for the game's release. But if you want to help develop the game come join us in the Alpha/Beta and do whatever you can to support the game.

After my tenure in the CBT for WoT, all accounts were wiped.  We all started at ground zero, although testers had an extra tank.

When I said example I meant present day. I know they were wiped, I was in beta too :)

I was saying that there will always be new people coming in, just more people after the beta ends.

I still think a wipe is necessary though.

Well they will already have an advantage of playing the game and knowing how to kick butt. That alone can give you a significant boost at the start while everyone else is trying to get their sea legs.

It would be nice if they give you a choice of any ship that you could unlock right at the beginning of the game if you were part of testing.  That along with a premium ship from whatever faction you happen to choose.   Since they would wipe everything that could be one way of rewarding a tester to make it worthwhile.

It will, but it will give us some good info about strenght and weakness of different ships and experience in battle and how it goes

For WoT it was 1,000 closed beta battles.  I was just a few hundred short at the end of beta unfortunately.  :(

 

Y'all also forget that during Closed Beta, there are often experience and credit multipliers in effect to allow active testers to reach most tiers on most branches.  Once CBT is done, it's important to wipe that out and test the general progression using proposed release multipliers.  You want everyone advancing at the same time also to test release conditions.  Both of those are excellent reasons to wipe between CBT and OBT.
