Hey all, just got Montana, and after a rough first couple matches I've begun to enjoy her 12 gun broadside. I have a 17 point captain now, but I'm not sure how to spend more after the core build I have now. What should I go for next?

Also, could use some critiques on my replays.

This is the 21pt build I run on most of my battleships.

https://wowsft.com/ship?index=PASB017&modules=1111&upgrades=214122&commander=PAW102&skills=14697569&ar=100&consumables=111&pos=0

Even without one of the special captains, Gun Feeder is IMO the best 1 pt skill to take for BBs. This isn’t necessarily by virtue of being a great skill (it’s not bad, though) but mostly because for most BBs the other options are even worse. Emergency Repair Specialist is IMO the worst 1 pt skill because it only increases the reload of your consumables by a few seconds. Ignore the fact that it is “recommended” (most of WG’s recommended builds are pretty terrible). I also like to run PM on USN BBs if I have the extra point because I feel more comfortable forgoing MAM1 to run the Auxiliary Armaments upgrade in slot 1 to preserve my AA.

I’ve also never been a big fan of BoS, either now or before the rework, because I have always believed there are better uses for those three points. Prior to the skill rework I would take JoaT and EL, and now I find it more valuable to be able to take both Emergency Repair Expert and Priority Target.

I have Halsey on my Montana, I use him in all of my premium BBs and others. My set up is more for fast attack in Co op battles and Halsey seems to work fine in all of these BBs..

I'm just finding her sluggish and flimsy...she just soaks un HE damage and chews on any AP thrown her way as well, as turning too slowly t avoid torps as well

Standard tank build. Skills: GF, GtG, AR, BoS, ERE, CE, FPE. Upgrades: MAM1, DCSM1, MBM1, DCSM2, CSM1, APRM2.

If you plan to move the captain to Montana with legendary mod at some point, you may want to take Improved Repair Party Readiness instead of Basics of Survivability.

If you find the ship sluggish, you can try running Prop Mod or Steering Gears to improve maneuverability.

Sounds like you may be pushing in too close too soon. Use the concealment and speed to find good positions and wait for opportunities. And get Montana as fast as possible because its a better ship.

I have been trying to hang back but the shells hang in the air so badly that hitting stuff is dodgy at best. Even at 16-18km, the ship just falls apart under any kind of HE spam or moderately heavy AP shells. The guns are better than GK''s, but otherwise GK just feels more solid. When the shells hit, they really hurt, but the armor just doesn't feel like it can save her.
