I don't see the problem here, frankly. Having played far up both the USN and Japanese cruiser trees, I can honestly say that the American ships get my vote over the Japanese, in spite of the HP disparity. Why? The unbelievably menacing U.S. CA AA batteries. The Japanese ships are really fairly meh in this regard, but U.S. vessels will just chew up whole enemy squadrons almost as an afterthought.

Torpedoes on a cruiser are just a flawed weapon system. You have to get insanely lucky with them at extreme ranges, and in order to close to useful firing distances, you're putting yourself in harm's way of the worst sort. It's nice that the U.S. cruisers don't have this temptation placed at their feet; they can concentrate on shooting, escorting, and taking our aircraft.

If only my AA batteries seemed to kill anything, having bombers fly in circles above me and killing one if im lucky.

Two on a good day.

AA is nice but the lack of CVs in high tier battles put the US cruisers greatest advantage away.

I am at the Baltimore and already have a Senjo. Until the DM the Japanese cruisers tier for tier starting at the Mogami have better artillery.

The one extra rear turret front and rear makes a noticeable difference. My Ibuki doesnt seem to lose turrets like my Baltimore. I had a battle in my Baltimore where I lost both lost my turrets leaving me with only my rear turret and I still had 30,000 hp.

Ship on ship action t7-t9 I'd take IJN cruiser. The turret number disparity is why the Montana is going to outclass the Yamato.

Its pretty smart of them to stick to keeping the ships accurate! The IJN had far superior ships compared to the rest of the world until late in the war when the US Navy started upgrading and building new ships. I would much rather have them stick to historical accuracy than appeal to people who think its a bit over powered.

Problem is this is a video game and the only game that would make sense in is a simulator or something, not in a game like this, things are nerfed and balanced in games for a reason, its to be fair to all players and Wargamimg have never been about historical accuracy look at World of Tanks, everything is a paper tank, same thing for World of warplanes. Historical accuracy doesn't mean crap if you use things that never existed.

Just yesterday i was playing in my Cleveland and fired almost no shots from my main guns (I was on the wide open map, all targets i saw were way out of my gun range) but my AA shot down 12 enemy aircraft in that one battle lol.  AA seems to be what American Cruisers really excel at.
