How will this game even work!?!, It sounds cool on paper but how do you put a floating city on the command of my PC?!?

:Smile_amazed: How will this game work, there are tons of things to worry about on just the ship alone, not to mention little planes buzzing around, torpedoes and physical combat(kamekazi and/or ramming). How will the devs make this work?

 

I, a humble WOT(world of tanks) player happened apon this little forum about the new game. I sometime in the future want these questions answered.

 

First, how will the anti-aircraft guns work along with the fighters? You can't have all bombers(we'd all perish) plus if there are planes there are dogfights. You might as well connect this to WOW(world of warplanes) and have human pilots braving gunfire from my ship. This can certain not work like WOT, with armor for sides and rear and penatration.

 

How will the guns work? Will AIs control the guns? Will you control all the guns with a crossheir? Will torpedoe launchers make an appearance(and little scouting torpedoe boats :Smile-_tongue: )? How is this even possible on a pc, tons of little people running around on deck manning the stations and AA guns?

 

And now, most importantly, how will the crew of you floating city work? Will there be a little bar on the corner saying how many of each kind of crew you have left(you have15 gunners, 500 engineers and all AA gunners are dead) controlling the performance of the ship as a whole? Or if you take damage to a part of your ship will you lose everyone there?

 

Then there is damage and :Smile_hiding:  :Smile_ohmy: Hp. Will there be a little skehmatic of your ship and saying if your engine is on fire, or if turrets 1 and 4 are just on fire or destroyed, or will your ship have over all hit-points and critical damage like in WOT?

 

 

Will there be a storyline, like the war in the pacific in WW2? How will your ships fare against threats from land, like air bases and beach guns?

 

 

 

So many Freak'in questions on this, plz subpit answers to these problems to the devs so we can play sooner...

Hi! take a read of the FAQ and Q&A sections for all that info.

 

AA guns will be AI controlled and you can select a primary target for them to shoot at. Aircraft can be launched by either Aircraft carriers or large ships carrying float planes. There are 4 types of aircraft you can chose to launch of your ships; Fighters, dive bombers, torpedo bombers and scouts. These will work like WoT ammo so yes you can select all bombers but that would mean that you have nothing to intercept enemy Aircraft with except your guns. The Devs have said time and time again that their games will not be combined as do you really want to have a huge % of your Aircraft to be lost on takeoff and landing. Also armor will work similar to WoT with penetration  but here the deck armor is normally the weakest and you will hit that at range, when you get to close range the rounds are going almost horizontally so will be hitting the stronger sides of your ship. Then there is also weaker parts like the superstructure.

So because i have the time...

 

You control the main armament, the AI controls the secondary and AA batteries. You will get torpedoes, and no there is be no Pt boats the smallest ships are destroyers. Crew will not be visible like in WoT

 

This is not Navy Feild. The only crew you have to worry about is a few officers, so like the few crew in WoT.

 

There is a HP system and Buoyancy system.

 

No. This is PvP

 

These are not problems, just you not reading the forums

So in WOT they use the over the shoulder 3rd person view system.  In WoWS does anyone know if they will do this and include a "sniper mode," like they have for arty.  Or is it simply side on view.

 

I am curious to see how this game will pan out because I loved Navyfield but I wished that it was more historically accurate.  WarGaming is quite a bit better about historical accuracy - not perfect but a lot better.

Fine, I will tell you the answer.

The role of the aircraft carrier is to ferry aircraft from the country where they were made to the shore of the country where they will be put into service.
The role of the cruiser is to entertain wealthy tourists who want go spend their money going on sea cruises.
The role of the destroyer is to destroy enemy air craft carriers and cruisers using their deck guns and their torpedoes.
The role of the battleship is as a platform for flags and to teach seamen how to paint at sea.  Usually they are only found in the ports of large coastal cities where they were used to promote the selling of war bonds and to provide stages for musical dance numbers.
The role of the submarine is to submerge and position themselves under the other types of ships and use their perisoaps to clean the hulls of surface vessels free of barnacles, etc. Thus allowing the surface vessels to move faster.

See how wise you were to insist that we answer your questions rather than doing your own research?  After all, every one provides accurate information if you only ask.

Perhaps this belongs in the other thread, and yet I feel no desire to move it.  Hmmmm.

You left out the CC's, CB's, and the PG-50.

 

PG-50, patrol gunboat, USS Erie.  Role, cannon fodder, tier 1.

 

CC- battle cruiser, will be used like a battleship and if misused will suffer heavy loses.

 

CB- large cruiser, will count as a CC, and thus as a BB, used in a manner inconsistent with that philosophy it will die.

Yeah, I'm really not stoked about their implementation of CB and CC.  If it balances out ok, fine, but I'd really expect to see late-war large and heavy cruisers occupying cruiser slots in the late tiers.

If they base it on capability, then the CC's/CB's should do ok in the low to mid fast BB slots.

 

Think about it, later CC/CB designs like the Alaska and Hood have armor that is not too bad when compared to the WWI era dreadnoughts.  Also, the Alaska's out-range many of the older BB's which would help make up for the armor deficiency to some degree.  Combine that with superior speed and they can hold their own I suspect.  If you try and close in and line fight you'd get wasted obviously.

 

 

OldManWillakersTank, the game is not released as of yet, it is not even in Alpha Testing yet.
