Ships of Tiers III-V are based on the real ships of the Imperial German Navy that participated in World War I. The battleship Mackensen was launched in 1917 but not completed. The Tier VII-X battleships are based on designs developed in the late 1910s. Key features of the German battleships: A small number of main battery guns with standard battleship accuracy and low firing range. The availability of torpedoes with a high range. A large number of secondary guns with high accuracy. Low visibility. Availability of the "Hydroacoustic Search" consumable similar to that of German cruisers. Availability of the "Fast Damage Control Team" consumable with an accelerated reload time, relative to the standard "Damage Control Party". Please note that all information in the development blog is preliminary. Announced adjustments and features may change multiple times during testing. The final information will be published on our game's website. The following researchable German battleships will be added to the game in the upcoming closed testing session: Tier III Von der Tann Tier IV Moltke Tier V Derfflinger Tier VI Mackensen Tier VII Prinz Heinrich Tier VIII Zieten Tier IX Prinz Rupprecht Tier X Schlieffen Stats: Spoiler German battleship Von der Tann, Tier III Hit points – 36500. The battleship is notable for her good speed, slim armor, and powerful AA. Incomparable is equipped with the "Engine Boost", "Repair Party" and — the standard for the British destroyers — "Short-Range Hydroacoustic Search" consumables. The best tactic would be to play at medium range, taking into account the ship's low firing range and good concealment. German destroyer Karl von Schönberg, Tier VI A variant of the Type 34 destroyer project. A comparatively large ship for its class, armed with "cruiser caliber" artillery. The destroyer is armed with four 150mm main battery guns in four turrets, with a huge salvo weight for a destroyer. Karl von Schönberg is equipped with "Engine Boost" and "Repair Party" and, unlike the German researchable destroyers, Schönberg does not have access to the "Smoke Generator" and "Hydroacoustic Search" consumables. Due to her good firing range and powerful artillery, the destroyer performs best in mid-range combat, dealing damage with its powerful AP-shells against poorly armored targets. Stats: Spoiler German destroyer Karl von Schonberg, tier VI Hit points – 16500. Plating - 16 mm. Main battery - 4x1 150 mm. Firing range - 11.9 km. Maximum HE shell damage – 2200. In addition to the numerous main battery guns, the ship stands out for having a large number of secondaries, as well as four four-tube torpedo launchers. Brandenburg is equipped with the "Repair Party" consumable in one slot, and the choice between "Fighter" and "Spotting Aircraft" in the other. Joke of the century right here "Starndard Battleship dispersion" Not with those sigma values. Bump them to 1.8 across the board or give them Battlecruiser dispersion ellipses. ~Hunter

"Standard Battleship Dispersion" With those Sigma values they'd have overall worse accuracy than the main Battleship line lmbo Also those 50kn torps are so useless outside of close encounters, their range is pointless with that speed. On the bright side, at least Incomparable's HE is only 85mm pen with 55% fire chance which means she doesn't get standard British HE flavour and that makes me happy. We have enough long range HE spamming cancer battleships as it is. ~Hunter

225 Trophy_Wench Beta Testers 438 posts 2,559 battles Report post #7 Posted July 13, 2021 The standard BB dispersion is a bit disappointing, NGL. But is anyone else kinda miffed that the tiers VIII and IX don't get their historical 42cm guns? Imean, I get why but even so had they all had the 42s I think the line would have had more appeal. Now, meh another line that I'll stop short and be happy with the real steel ships.

She also has sub 200m dispersion with 2.0 sigma at max range and a concealment of 13.5 before upgrades, wouldn't that be sub 11km's fully specced for concealment? Wow. And she has Hydro and engine boost??? Cruisers beware. Shikishima just became obsolete. 1

~Hunter 50 kt torps aren't useless. Maybe not as good as the a-historical, physics defying 70-95 knot missiles some ships have.... But at the very least slow is even better for area denial, and well timed and well placed slowpedos can definitely still connect... Recently, I have seen plenty of Elbing or Black sea mines do their thing....even at Typhoon CB level.

And with 70k hp, I doubt that she can get close to the point of using her torpedoes and her hydro.

Upon further consideration I am thinking that we have Super Cruisers who come close to really being BBs and now we will have a BB that really functionally is a Super Cruiser.... 61 Gellurt_T Members 92 posts 3,437 battles Report post #14 Posted July 13, 2021 So basically these are supposed to be played like Battle cruisers? Stay mobile and avoid situations where you HAVE to commit because proper BB's will melt you? Torpedoes are slow enough that even the USN chonky boi's prolly stand a decent chance of dodging them in a knife fight, their torpedoes smack more of randomly firing them of in the enemies direction and posting "Kek" or something analogous in chat when you randomly nail someone because they didn't expect torps(Not a german ship, but nailed a 85% or so HP salem that way with venezia torps, was kitting my teams BB's and sailed into my fired off into contested cap torps). Fast damage control team consumable further cemments to me that you want to play these ships less like tanks, and more like battle cruisers, poor decisions early in the match that burn damage control parties are gonna bite hard in the middle and late game, you want to save them for attacks where you commit, good and bad positioning will prolly make or break these ships. The guns are another issue, in what so far seem like ships where you have to be carefull in regards to when to commit, guns with "Standard BB accuracy" are gonna be extra frustrating, unless these ships are gonna have the soviet gimmick of the closer a target, the better your accuracy, or the secondaries are very good, this might be a still birthed line that only masochists or Unicums looking for a challenging ship line will enjoy

I use them in Elbing all the time and I've caught a fair few people unaware with them. The slow range is ideal for area denial. The destroyer looks like a tier 6 Elbing from hell. 150mm guns with a repair party and speed boost...and a 7 second reload. Add the skills and it's like 6 second something...if it gets the improved Penn and accuracy of the line I'll buy it in a second.

1,255 [BONKY] tfcas119 Members 2,282 posts 26,807 battles Report post #17 Posted July 13, 2021 The German battlecruisers look like German versions of Kremlin, except less Stalinimum and more shotgun. Also the T8-10 better have some godtier armor for those low health pools. Also, what do you mean by “high accuracy?” Do you mean current German BB secondary accuracy, better than standard, Mass level, or really accurate like Napoli, Zeppelin or Pensacola accurate? Incomparable: Not RN HE, surprised and relieved at the same time. Hindenburg outranges you, but you’re faster (and stealthier than over half of all T10 cruisers) Faring torps with 2km more range and her Hydro, but turns like a Soviet, so it’ll just tell you which torp will hit you from further out, and she has 11in belt armor, Thunderer citadel (presumably) and lol penned by every BB you’ll see save Brandenburg and Odin, no way in hell you’ll want to get close to anything with this Schonberg: is literally 150 Gaede with .5sec better reload, heal instead of smoke, and the hydro crew got sacked. Will be a monster in Aegis though, to go nicely with T-61. Also, poor Gaede, two premium German DDs at the same tier and both make her look like a T5 DD (albeit T-61 makes most other T6 DDs look like T5s) Brandenburg. Will depend on how much you’ll notice 1.6sigma on 12 12in guns on a Bismarck hull. Pommern, Alsace, and other 12 gun low sigma BBS say no, but we’ll see

It will be interesting to see how long this one keeps its no-smoke, no-hydro flavour. It's clearly a tier-for-tier replacement for T-61, mirroring the new German heavy DD line... or at least the way it was originally intended to be. 2 minutes ago, tfcas119 said: Also, poor Gaede, two premium German DDs at the same tier and both make her look like a T5 DD (albeit T-61 makes most other T6 DDs look like T5s) I think I'll take 150mm Gaede over Schonberg at first blush, but we'll see what the gameplay is like. If Schonberg ends up with the stupidly good dispersion the Z31-Elbing line has, she might have something going for her.

The accuracy is 104m, so definitely not the same as the new DDs (for now). So what remains to be seen is whether you get penetration and improved autobounce angles. 10 [-ST-] Hellroach Members 54 posts 7,718 battles Report post #23 Posted July 13, 2021 As someone who does like to point out the distinction between Britain’s and Germany’s Battlecruiser design doctrines, I gotta say these initial bow/stern plating numbers are somewhat disappointing. British BCs were designed to be the ultimate naval bullies, as INCOMPARABLE above shows-forget history-, the idea was to have ships that could run down enemy light elements and eliminate them, but faced with anything that actually might have a chance to withstand the salvo, run. Just run. Germany on the other hand, was looking at the RN and thinking, “Our Cruiser Killers need to be able to survive running the inevitable gauntlet a British blockade will create”, so they ensured that their captains would only be inclined to face superior, or even peer, opposition as a last resort with sub-caliber guns. These guns were more than adequate to do the BC job, but would be hellish to use against a proper battle line in theory. With the saved weight from smaller guns, more armor could be placed to ensure Germany’s BCs could survive long enough to get to open seas and do their job of commerce raiding and cruiser hunting. In game, this should translate to either having a belt thick enough to make going broadside a less risky endeavor, and also to having a comparably faster turret traverse than the current BBs, at least until the 406’s are introduced, or having a near impregnable bow and stern for gameplay. Thanks to the nebulousness of these stat sheets, it’s still unclear how useful these BCs will be compared to the “real” BBs, but I hope that despite the “anti-Germany” sentiment WarGaming seems to show that these will provide a similar, but distinct feel to the battle line we have come to know already, and that hopefully, they won’t get powercrept the very next patch after release. 1,255 [BONKY] tfcas119 Members 2,282 posts 26,807 battles Report post #24 Posted July 13, 2021 I just realized something about the German BCs- they have supercruiser dispersion. Look at Hennerich’s range (18.6) and dispersion(197m) then look at Brandenburg, which has very near the same range, but 245m dispersion. That changes a lot about these ships, no longer will they behave like Freddy’s gunnery, but more like Georgia and Thunderer. Still are likely to need god tier armor to compensate for the low health and 27mm bow/stern plating.
