Please Remove The Cross Talk From Developer's Q&A

Guys, the developers have gone out of their way to answer questions for us, but lately there have been massive amounts of cross talk cluttering up the board. Not only is this in violation of Gaea's post on the subject, but it fills the board with useless posts, making it harder for the developers to find the actual questions.

If you are not a developer, please don't answer anyone's stupid questions, previously answered questions, or post your own views on the previous questioner or his question. If the Q&A thread becomes another pew-pew thread the developers may simply abandon it, and we lose access to the insights we have been seeking.

Instead, please come to the General or Off-Topic threads where you can discuss the previously answered questions, or the relationship between the IQ and shoe size of the poster, or discuss various interpretations of the given answers.

I don't want to lose what may be my only insight into the workings of the game for the next year, and I'm certain you don't either. So please, reserve the Q&A for your Q's and let the developers give the A's.

Thank you.

I agree, I also believe that people should not be trying to answer people's questions directly in that section. Just send then a pm or something instead of further cluttering up the Q&A with a non-developer answer. Make it much easier for the developers to see the actual questions and to eliminate the posts where people  are telling other people not to have a discussion on it when they in turn are adding to the discussion with a non question post..

It's not really that bad, at worst it was only about 6 posts in a row on a page. It's rather sparse otherwise.

Only those that seem to think the forum rules do not apply to them are the culprits.  And we do our level best to manage this, many of us have been stung by a select few (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE.)  They are the ones that take issue with other forum members trying to maintain some resemblence of order here, and go out of their way to make the rest of us accept their position that they are not about to be managed by other forum users.

Instead of starting a new thread, that will undoutedly turn into a flame thread, just use the REPORT function and hand it over to the moderators to deal with.  After a few REPORTS, they will either get the message (From a moderator), while the rest of us can continue to follow the guidelines without any backlash from these culprits.

Are they going to add ironclad ships from the civil war like the USS Monitor and the CSS Virginia (USS Merrimack).

Last answer we had was "no", though some were agitating for a Premium.  :)

Maybe a 0.5 tier premium? If Dreadnought is a starting or tier 2 ship ironclads don't have much hope

A fine point.

I think USS Monitor and CSS Virginia would be much lower than 0.5 imho they might be 0.01 :Smile_teethhappy:

Give the Virginia an engine upgrade and she'll sink anything.  That ram hits you at 30 knots and it is going straight through.

I think the USS Monitor would beat the CSS Virgina, or the USS Merrimack as it was called by the confederates, because its a lot smaller so it had greater maneuverability and was a smaller target to hit, but the main advantage was the revolving turret which housed two 280 mm smoothbore Dahlgren guns. These cannons were 51mm bigger than that off the Merrimack giving the Monitor more penetrating power and more damage.

i just finished my history project on these two ships

Agreed. I have seen a tone of spam on there, and questions about things already answered. Sometimes its just a newbie asking something but this, "cross talking," should stop.

I am reviving this old topic rather than start a new one both to assure our newer forum posters that this is not about them, and to remind our older forum posters that they too have agreed to this.

The developers do not have to answer our questions, and all the clutter, insults, and argument that goes on there can become a problem for Tiet as he seeks the real questions among all the e-peen posturing.

If you want your questions answered, please don't post there unless it is a question to the developers. If you have something to say to another player, take it to General Discussion.

I'll make one small caveat for Already Answered in the interest of discussion.  In the past, we have saved Teit quite a bit of time asking about questions that are already on the board.  Since those threads have been handed down from Dev to Dev, he may not know it was taken care of already and then has to waste time finding out or re-answering.  I think it is important, however, to provide the quoted reference when doing so, which allows for a correction of a known "fact" that has since changed.  I think it is also very important that only one person provide the answer and that they do so fairly quickly after the question is asked to allow the question/answer to be together for clarity.

triptyx is an obvious exception since he is the creator of the wiki which the Devs themselves have blessed. A simple quote from past answers or the wiki is not a bad idea. The cross talk to which I refer are posts having nothing at all to do with questions, but with players arguing their points, (or sometimes just arguing,) without contributing anything relevant to the discussion.

Dev Q&A is for Q's and A's, not your opinions on the other posters' questions or quality of life.

Definitely agree with this Brian, thanks for bringing this one back to the top.
