To be honest those stats actually look pretty bad. I'm expecting them to get buffed.

oh let me guess......the Russian CVs will be able to do 45 knots and 50 knots with speed boost.  Probably the first CVs to get repair party.  Why not throw in 15km radar to boot.

I'm surprised the CV doesn't have a smokescreen.

Considering their ability to torpedo, rocket, and skip bomb from beyond the range of any AAA, I don't see the disappointment here.  These carriers can hide about as well as an IJN CV, strike without taking any AA fire or entering patrol fighter radius, and have the speed to keep ahead of most enemies for a pretty long time.  I imagine BBs are going to really hate these CVs, as they will be taking full attacks without their AAA ever firing back.

I actually had to look at that calendar to make sure this wasnt an April Fools joke somehow... this is further confirming to me that development of this game is essentially done via throwing darts at pieces of paper on the wall with things written on them...

I agree.  I've been very open to everything but the American Hybrid and now Soviet CVs are too much.

Just wondering, this is when WG do it for historical accuracy or because it's an arcade??

A lot of ships in-game are blueprint ships :Smile_hiding: Some of them were never even build :fish_sleep:

So it's the arcade part.

Paint me underwhelmed

Having used Ise, rocket boosters are a very limited & frankly, useless thing for a CV unless it is closer to the action then current CV's go.

1 attacking flight

Less planes to begin with

Less speed

As the blog says

Quote

To play effectively, squadrons will need to make a lot of brief flights at short to medium range

These are mosquitoes, launched from up close.

Nobody is going to fear this.

And this is fine and understood; very few lines are almost completely historical. I won't touch CV balance etc since there's no point.

But tell me you prefer Soviet CVs opposed to Italian or French ones that at least had some development. Or maybe news on odd tier CVs.

This is WG trying to get a last paycheck from the slowly shrinking RU server.

I look forward to the inevitable salt and doomposting from people who have not read the stats or even the blogpost itself.

*grabs the local popcorn cache*

I'm pretty sure the OP of this thread didn't read the blogpost.

I think his point, rather than "Russian CV's will be OP", is more along the lines of "new CV's are coming.  From Russia.  Yes, Russia.  You know, one of the historical pioneers of naval aviation."

Someone should tell that to the Germans (aka. Kriegsmarine gets blueballed by Goering) then. And for the record, the Soviet designs did exist.

Meh.

Another thought... NYET.

Just another form of expected evolution of sky cancer and vulturing.

The more WG doubles down on carriers the more the players dont care for it. The solution is fixing the AA so that they are credible.

Low detection on the ships. The tier 10 actually has lower surface detection than the Hakuryu, although it is also a little slower.

It seems they designed these CVs specifically keeping current tier 10 CV gameplay in mind, where overlapping AA bubbles mean it's often better to do an attack run and then recall the planes (except for FDR obv.)

More number of planes per strike means they will have higher alpha potential, even when enemies are clustered together and pooling their AA.

So playing these up close to the front will be more efficient compared to doing so in other CVs

On the other hand missing strikes will also be more punishing, since turning the slow planes around in that AA bubble to have another go will be painful.
