Wargame Center changed?

I've had the WGC for a while now and had/have the auto update set.  Today I noticed in the launcher that there are updates to be downloaded and an Update button.  When I click on the Update button, I get the msg, that the game will be unavailable while updates are downloaded.

Usually when updates were/are available, the updates were downloaded in the background and I could still play.  Is this a recent change or did my WGC options get changed on me?

I downloaded it and installed it.

The availiblity of game is of no concern. When  its finished its ready toplay.
