Concerned about upcoming changes

Yeah, I'm likely jumping the gun a bit, but I'm concerned about the effect of changes to the game. In particular the introduction of subs.

I'm not threatening to quit, nor am I waving a pitchfork calling for the idea to be scrapped. I'm simply a bit worried that it will cause enough issues in an already niche game to drive some players away. The player base is small enough already without bleeding more.

Its already becoming more and more common to see bots in randoms, especially at mid tiers and lower. Not sure if that's lingering fallout from the double CV matches being so prevalent with tier four and to a lesser extent with tier six CVs, or if its simply a far smaller population than it used to be.

Hell, I'm looking forward to trying out subs, and have been actively researching their counters. (DD and CL, especially those with hydro)

I suppose it will be what it will be, but like they said in more than one old western "I've got a bad feeling about this".

At times I have the same kind of concerns about all things game related lately and am pretty vocal about :Smile_teethhappy:.

I found a few ways to not let them faze me or annoy me to a lesser degree.

First, every game has an expiration date. It doesn't have to be when the servers close down, but when you set it yourself. To me personally a botched sub implementation will be the end for example.

Secondly, adopt a f2p policy. I stopped even my infrequent spending in premium content. If I buy something it's either earned ingame, or stockpiled. That way I feel no moral obligation to play "because I paid". Basically avoid sunk cost fallacy.

Thirdly, the game is still fun to some extent and I just try to enjoy it as long as it is that way. WG makes the decisions anyway, so might as well not go completely crazy.

When you reach a certain age the fact that things are changing becomes more annoying than the changes themselves. Unfortunately WG's strategy is to keep changing the game to make it more attractive to new players; older and longer-running players get tired or relearning basic principles or statistics. I think that is the case here on the forums where every update brings out chicken littles who think the game is ruined because of this change or that. I don't like the constant state of change but I'm going to continue to play the game until I find something during a match that I can't live with. I doubt subs will be it.

My spending on the premium is going to be stopping too.  That just because I feel like i have to play the game as a job to use it.  I want to be able to play my other games and come back to this one for NB to help the Clan out.

I'd ask you this as a devils advocate,  Is it not possible that new content could possibly add players?   Clearly by your own above stated logic it's currently bleeding players.  ( which is not correct FTR) so, should we think sitting and doing nothing solves this or just prolongs its slow death.  Lack of new content = death for any gaming title.  As much as a encamped player base groans about changes, this is a sure truth.   Can bad content hurt? .sure.. but no worse than doing nothing.

Well said.

I let the COOP 2x7 MM Bug to get to me though.  And, our host is enjoying the money they get and inputting very little new content.......that can only last a little while more before a great many others will make decisions about staying, leaving or fighting back against the changes coming.   We are already in a Mature Game Syndrome and that means that migration due to dissatisfaction  will continue all this summer and by Xmas, will either confirm more losses or lock into a status quo platform for another period of time before even the diehards realize the end is obvious......  Or, they could work to expand the game with first world, quality content !  Want to know what the "chances" of that are historically>?   <10%  -  kind of more like your chance of getting a Tier IX in a SC.........

Anyway, well said !

It's just a matter of physics, mate. Players get spun off by centrifugal force as we circle the drain. :Smile_teethhappy:

You sure it isn't a question of our Type IIa Super Nova of "new content" like hybrids, commander skill reworks, hazards to navigation, umbrella bombers, and subs collapsing into a black hole?
