So playing some odd ball/different ships than I usually do today after I finished off week 2 of the dockyard this morning. For this game I decided to take out the new T10 ITL BB Cristoforo Colombo that I don't really like. Was one of those 2 human/7 bot games. The other player was a pink Zao.

We started off chatting about it was just us and wished each other luck. They were on one side of the map and me the other. As the game wound down it was the 2 of us vs a red bot Colombo and Conqueror. I sort of got caught in a bad spot with one behind and one in front but they were off to the side enough it was hard to angle against both. The Zao was coming towards us from their end of the map.

I got a big salvo off against the Conqueror taking it down to almost dead and saw the Zao right there so I knew the Conqueror was dead so I angled better (kiting) to the Colombo behind me (had grounded so was sitting almost broadside) which had been hammering me (would rather angle properly to 419MM's than 381MM's). Sure enough I see one of the red BB icons vanish so I knew the Zao had got the BB. I was almost out of secondary range of the Colombo so while I reloaded I slowed down a bit and after it shot and I bounced the shells I started turning enough to get all guns off which would have nuked it (well if the shells hit - always an IF with ITL BB's - but just saying).

Just then I hear that little torp warning noise and notice the torp icons which had just gone red so I am like WHAT and look to see where torps are coming from???? I had not expected any torps as it was just us and all the Zao had to do was shoot the Conqueror to kill it as it was almost dead. The Zao had launched 2 racks at the Conqueror before killing it with guns however and missed all/most of them as I had wall-o-torps bearing down on me. Also appeared it had the long range ones (12km) as I was quite a ways off.

Because I had slowed down I had no chance of missing all of them but did my best to get moving and take as few as possible while hoping they would run out before hitting me. Colombo has decent TDR% and it looked like I would take 2 at most so I should survive as I was 1/2 HP with a heal and DCP ready. Felt bad the Zao would get more pink but nothing I could do.

I was already planning to take the torp(s), DCP and heal, and then finish the Colombo off for the win and tell the Zao not to worry it happens. And then IT did happen. The front torp of the 2 I would take hit me right under the front turret and DETONATED me AND because the Zao was already pink it killed him so we LOST! :cap_fainting:

That almost seems like it shouldn't be allowed to happen (ie; an unforeseen circumstance with someone being pink doing more TK damage) but whatever the case may be it did. I have never seen a game end that way or even heard of it. I was like NOOOOOOO!!!!! :fish_boom:

Oh well can't win them all.

I hope the Zao wasn't salty about it.

Nope we chatted in port after.

Ah, very good.  I don't get salty when I get torped accidentally, especially if there's a lot going on.  Teammates can't read my mind.  But I hate it when I'm focused on my particular thing and wind up running into torps to pink or (thankfully rarely) reflect-kill a green human.  I do my best to give clear lanes of fire and keep an eye out, that being the considerate thing to do, but sometimes it's just too late to do much about it.

I have seen this on occasion in high tier co-op. It is like one of the really smart versions of the bot AI that they have slipped in where you really have to be on your toes.

Yup and that is what happened here.

Better luck next time? LEL. :cap_haloween:

At least y'all were friendly about the whole thing. If this kind of good sportsmanship were the norm, I MIGHT consider PVP. Instead you get salty rants, downvotes for playing CV, etc in PVP.

As it currently stands, I like the more relaxed, friendly atmosphere of PVE.

I thought that if a ship was pink, all damage done to a friendly ship is supposed to be reflected back to the pink ship.  If this is the case, a detonation should not happen since no damage was actually suffered by the friendly ship.

Yeah but it did. If you look at the details screen you will see I took 1 torp for 40K+ damage, on the rewards screen you will see the Zao killed me by torps, and on the standings page you can see the Zao is -1 for kills. I went POOF when the torp hit under the front turret and then the pink Zao went poof and we lost. :fish_boom:

It does reflect back, but AFAIK, you still eat the damage too.

I guess it's more like... damage gets copied and then sent back to the pink ship... lol. :Smile_hiding:

The victim takes some damage (5% for torpedoes, 10% for everything else.)  In this case AT took 8K real damage, which didn't kill him immediately, but the detonation roll did him in.

from the wiki:

Consequences of the teamkiller status

The offending player receives a disciplinary penalty of increasing severity.

Immediate:

A player that is penalized as a direct result of team damage (esp. killing a teammate) suffers effects in that battle. A penalty is assessed immediately and announced both by voice and in chat. The player may turn pink.

Any team damage thereafter is reflected back to him as a percentage. For example, if a pink player deals 10,000 damage to an Allied ship and the damage constitutes 50% of that ship's starting hit point pool, the teamkiller's ship loses 50% of his ship's starting HP.

At the same time, the teamkiller's victims receive only 10% of the actual damage that would be caused (5% for torpedoes). They still receive the full resulting fire and flooding damage, although Wargaming may reduce this in future.

Should the teamkiller continue to damage allied ships, the percentage of damage reflected back to him will increase until his ship is destroyed.
