One night mod to unite them all !!! ~ extension mod of RoTFS mod
What the mod does is basically turn some of the map in game from day battle to night battle and some port too (The mod is not compatible with any other mod)

image.thumb.png.df4add906b50e465d65bee4e881287aa.png
The mod probably only compatible to play with RoTFS mod or RAMP up your gamma bar to 100

I went full lmbo mode on this mod, sorry for the weird change of voice. Anyway
Gamma bar will be called radar because I felt like that what it does

Installation instruction
after extract the mod, find your main WoWS folder and drop it there done, no need to do anything else
*Caution: read before use

Spoiler

1.The mod will certainly decrease your ability to play like a normal person since you wont get a good reference point to aim, so I dont recommeded play this in Rank
2. Mod Setting
Because WG think that is a good idea to increase Bloom every time you increase your Post processing quality so if you dont want your moon to look like a Hydrogen bomb going off, then Change it to High or lower

image.png.19c709e4151786edb38d594543672798.pngimage.thumb.png.a84d2d17e7e1303145b288143b5ce808.png

an special case is that if you turn off Post processing quality, the night wont be affect by the ambient light that is from the moon anymore and so you get the true color of my night mod.
image.thumb.png.5dc4e3603d3592755f5ae86dfd49dbd5.png

in case you dont know how to change post processing quality go to setting
image.thumb.png.93ecdfc8561703a10f79e5687a424021.png
and change it from very high to high to enjoy the mod

And the mod should be used in conjunction with my UI mod

and skin mod

 image.png.f4355d0ececbaec4bd7870c58193b293.png
you could quite see the time from me messed it up till now when it was fix, XD
image.thumb.png.b875adf1b163aa700b1370038a3f551c.png
I think it pretty hard to see, but in my mod there is actual stars in the skybox, the only thing that is lacking it's cloud, because I dont know how to make it work.
Beside that my suggest setting for the mod is that 75% gamma for non RoTFS mod user, and 50% for RoTFS mod user. 0% it's hard to play with, but well if you want to, you could do it.

Nice mod! I've been waiting for a darker night mod for a long time. Like every new mod, I install it on a blank res_mods folder, but I believe something went wrong...

Perhaps any of the parameters in uber.settings...? Last time I fiddled with uber.settings, I remember there were lines that would change the colour of the fog. If I weren't elbows deep in another project, I'd gladly help you testing the mod. I really love the idea of bringing naval battles to realistic nights. For now, I can only point out to the issue I've found.

Well, well... and old friend of mine - insomnia - has paid me a visit today. So I decided to take a look into your mod and compare with the files of a similar mod.

I was working on a mod that would span from absolute darkness (overcast, no stars, no moon) to more clearer nights with full moon and northern lights. I was also working on extreme weather mods, like heavy snow squalls in the North Sea and heavily reduced visibility. Some of these mods were supposed to work only in replays, as visual aiming is nearly impossible. However, the only part I got ready, has the absolute darkness and stormy seas. I had to stop and put everything on ice.

Some screenshots of how far I went:

I really got stuck with the brightness of fires. But this was before the visual rework earlier this year. Perhaps I should revisit my old mod and see how it behaves with rework.

Port "Fjords" with typical Norwegian weather: damp and cold.

Looking into your files, I realized something was missing. In uber.settings, there is a line that points to the lightcube files. But the files are missing.

uber.settings_1.thumb.png.97040528a14c8b5f3035a9f6f8ff10d8.png

The red fog is how the engine replaces the missing light cube. I took one of the lightcubes from the mod I was working on and... voilà:

shot-21_04.29_07_37.35-0678.thumb.jpg.ac30bd13c8328fe762ded20adae25dbc.jpg

The lightcube isn't perfectly aligned with the source of light (the moon) and is too bright for my taste. But it's a start

The "hydrogen bomb effect" is also modable. It's under <PostFX>, <Lenseflare>. The cloud effect is a bit more tricky. You have to keep stars in one line of uber.settings and sky texture. in another. The actual texture file must be semi-trasnparent (no blue sky, but partially opaque clouds  (or totally opaque clouds depending on the thickness of the could). Some skills in photoshop required.

"Hydrogen bomb effect" also nuked.

You have a series of map textures that are used for post-processing under <PostFX>. It's advisable to include them in your mod. You may keep the original path described in uber.settings, and the game will use  default textures. However, remember to use the actual texture maps for night environment.

uber.settings_2.thumb.png.440e3129151a3561115915f8bd629418.png

Intensity, size and opacity of the texture that creates the sun corona should have their values lowered.

uber.settings_3.thumb.png.a4c3fa0f6090b034272c05e15a38a28f.png

...and the same for brightness and scale, lower in the same <PostFX> section.

uber.settings_4.png.1a1b8299e30d99764a69b7c7a32a4a9f.png

Then, under the next section, <Lightshafts>, one last change of value that controls the intensity must be done. If you want some effect of light shafts (the light of the moon casting shadows with visible light shafts), change the value to a small number. If you don't want to have them at all, just have it all down to 0.0000.

uber.settings_5.png.ebaf0e896a363e5ea643b22ae648458e.png

The result will be this:

shot-21_04.29_08_58.27-0515.thumb.jpg.79faf4fea54f4aaba4a60a305fd3df71.jpg

(no light shafts)

shot-21_04.29_09_00.06-0833.thumb.jpg.f562c8fc9fe20496e7adfde3f5d4b292.jpg

(subtle light shafts)

I think the reason why you might want change it because you dont have my mod on, the RoTFS mod which depend on the glow of the skin, for player to see at night time, and the skin also relied on the setting to make the glow (bloom) stronger hence why I dont change it. My mod aim to be playable too at the same time providing the player with spectacle of night time and my RoTFS skin mod, so I dont plan to change it. Regarding the glow of this image.thumb.png.968cf9aa5ab95e4e99594e5a3feea431.png
Well it can be fixed by moving the moon higher into the sky.
In all I dont think I would change anything in the next mod update
image.thumb.png.9e19287e3eeb5d0abd1760cf603189af.png
But thank for the feedback

This would be really cool if you could choose to only have the mod on while you are at port. I love the way it looks, but I don't want it to negatively affect my gameplay
