The standard hulls of the following ships have been replaced with new ones based on researchable hulls with a modified set of AA defenses: flag_France_1b45875fe2166c392a4b0801c9fastandard_874a3bdc3134b8da4fd6f52186f1b2bV Émile Bertin, flag_USA_dd9fc06d19a8638f4077ab2fe200d22standard_01624cacb82f39f77a4e677a7b9fdf4V New York, flag_USA_dd9fc06d19a8638f4077ab2fe200d22standard_01624cacb82f39f77a4e677a7b9fdf4VI New Mexico, flag_USA_dd9fc06d19a8638f4077ab2fe200d22standard_01624cacb82f39f77a4e677a7b9fdf4VII Colorado, flag_USA_dd9fc06d19a8638f4077ab2fe200d22standard_01624cacb82f39f77a4e677a7b9fdf4VIII North Carolina, flag_Germany_18970d883c7758b53538983bd09standard_01624cacb82f39f77a4e677a7b9fdf4VI Bayern, flag_USA_dd9fc06d19a8638f4077ab2fe200d22standard_84f55678325d4b492215390a7f0b430VI Ranger, flag_USA_dd9fc06d19a8638f4077ab2fe200d22standard_357acc9fc0e2f7d98f047c99edffad3IX Fletcher, flag_Russia_6ce701e1c2f2ac3909a68a0a7b23standard_357acc9fc0e2f7d98f047c99edffad3VII Minsk, flag_Russia_6ce701e1c2f2ac3909a68a0a7b23standard_357acc9fc0e2f7d98f047c99edffad3VIII Kiev, flag_Russia_6ce701e1c2f2ac3909a68a0a7b23standard_357acc9fc0e2f7d98f047c99edffad3VIII Ognevoi, flag_Russia_6ce701e1c2f2ac3909a68a0a7b23standard_357acc9fc0e2f7d98f047c99edffad3IX Tashkent, and flag_Russia_6ce701e1c2f2ac3909a68a0a7b23standard_357acc9fc0e2f7d98f047c99edffad3IX Udaloi. The purpose of this is to make gameplay on these ships in their standard hull configurations more comfortable.

Anyone know what that means?  I understood the what they were talking about with the other hulls, but what does this part mean? Sounds like they are replacing the final hulls on these ships with upgraded AA values. Is that correct?

I think it means different , and in many cases completely unhistorical, AA suites.

Looks to me like they're basically making stock hulls the same as upgraded hulls, except for the AA, which will be somewhere between the (current) stock hull and the upgraded one.

I actually try to keep up with all the changes to ship characteristics, but this change went over my head.  I don't understand what is being done to the listed ships, and I have a nagging feeling that it will cost me in some way.  I can't decide if WG is being secretive or just inarticulate.

I think that means the stock hull is being replaced by the B hull with extra AA on them, but not sure.

If that's true, then I wonder if people who've already researched them will be compensated or not

I take it to mean they're buffing the AA  on stock hulls.

My biggest worry was that they'd keep the Omaha's C hull and trash the B hull. I'm glad to be wrong about that one.

Yeah I like the B hull with two sets of extra torpedo tubes rather than a couple more mgs  for aa

They're taking all the ships that had different hull models along their tech tree progressions, making them have only the final hull, and creating ahistorical "crappier final hull" versions so you still have to pay to skip a stock hull grind.

^This. I purposely skipped the C hull to keep the barrels and torp mounts. Had me worried too.

That's what I thought at first, but then I noticed that they are referring to two different things. It talks about the  A, B, and C hulls and mentions how some of them will be removed and the other hulls moved up in the chain, but then it refers to "standard hulls" being replaced with new ones with modified AA values as if it is something different from the removal of the other hulls.  Does anyone know what the "standard hull" is that they are talking about? I took it to mean that the "standard hull" is the final hull version and they are basically upgrading the AA values on those ships, but as written it is really unclear what it means. @Hapa_Fodder Do you happen to have any idea what that it is supposed to mean?

To me it means that WG is forcing me to use something that i didn't want to use and skipped when i was progressing, i still have and use the Konig and Bayern and i use them with the stock hull, is WG upset that some people don't upgrade their ships and this is somehow their way of forcing us to upgrade them and telling us it's more "comfortable", i was very very comfortable using the stock hull's thank you very much.

It's weegee's way of trying everything they can to avoid the AA issue and issues surrounding it.

I know that reading is hard but from the patch notes,

Quote

Compensation Rules

Removing hull modules:

If you've already researched Hull B, you'll receive Ship XP equal to the cost of researching Hull B as compensation.
If you've already researched Hull C, the new Hull B will be mounted on your ship instead. In other cases, new Hull A will be mounted on the ship.
If you've already purchased a hull that is to be replaced, you'll receive compensation in the amount of Credits you paid for it.

Changes to VIII Z-23's guns:

If you've already researched the 150 mm/55 Tbts KC/36T guns on an LDrh LC/38 mount, you'll receive compensation in the amount of 15,000 Ship XP.
If you've already purchased the guns that are to be replaced, you'll receive compensation in the amount of Credits you paid for them.

I'll be honest and say i just got into this game a few weeks ago so i won't sit here and pretend i know everything that's going on so i don't really know what the AA issues are exactly, are AA guns broken, are they not accurate or are they too accurate?

In at least some cases, they weren't really upgrades.  NY B Hull went from:
10.2- 8x1 20mm, 4x2 40mm, 8x1 76.2mm, to

10.3- 8x1 20mm, 4x4 28mm, `10x1 76.2mm (2 extra 76.2mm *sounds* like a buff, but the early model 76.2mm guns NY has are trash)

NC B Hull went from:

10.2- 44x1 20mm, 15x4 40mm, 10x2 127mm, to

10.3- 38x1 20mm, 15x2 40mm (wth, WG), 10x2 127mm

If you would read the article, it is very specific about compensation.

Definitely compensated. Logged into the game last night to find myself 14 million credits to the good and particular ships I'd been working on with modules I hadn't researched yet suddenly swimming in XP that hadn't been there before. Very nice indeed. I was able to get Iowa her new B hull and pick up the stock Vittorio Veneto and still have more credits than I finished 0.10.2 with.

Nurnberg wasn't mentioned.  It used to have a C hull that traded half the torps for better AA.  Omaha had something similar, but traded a couple of main battery guns.  I'm wondering if the plan is to bring back the better AA without having to give something up?

Nurnberg and a whole bunch of US destroyers lost their C hulls last year. Those AA hulls were sidegrades - you didn't have to grind them on the way to the next ship - and all sidegrades and side-stepping research paths (e.g. from A hull to guns or torpedoes then to B hull and successor ship or what-have-you) were removed and rationalized in 2020 to an independent straight-down approach for all modules (guns, hulls, torps, fire control, engines as applicable).
