Well we know Deadeye is getting replaced, and that Key Battles is coming back, so here's my patch design:

  1. The Return of Key Battles!

As of this patch, Big Hunt(formerly known as Key Battles)is making a return to the game. This mode is the only PvPvE mode in World of Warships, with no teams except those made by players in the form of divisions. Divisions for the Big Hunt can only be made in-game. As such, this is a good place for people to work off team damage. Players will fight for keys to an exit portal. Whoever doesn't make it must fight to be the last survivor. There are several notable tweaks that can be read about here.

2.  Changes to Captain Skills

After Patch 0.10.0 came out, we have used the feedback about the new skills to do some tweaking. "Grease the Gears" was worded wrong & did the opposite of what it was supposed to do. Players abused the "Deadeye" skill in ways we hadn't anticipated. Both have been "re-reworked." A list of smaller changes can be seen here. Once again, all players will be gifted 500 doubloons to change their skills. Resets will be free until the next patch.

3. Low-Tier AA tweaks

A number of complaints have been made about the lack of AA firepower at low tiers. We did some research and found historical upgrades for a few ships. These upgrades also buff other characteristics, such as armor, HP, and agility. The following ships have been buffed:

  • USS South Carolina
  • HMS Hermes
  • IJN Hosho
  • USS Wickes
  • USS Clemson
  • IJN Yubari receives one more DFAA charge at the expense of 5 sec. of duration
  • IJN Tenryu
  • SMS Kolberg

In addition, former premium protected cruiser HIRMS Oleg was exchanged for now-premium Bogatyr. Her premium configuration is now stock, upgraded she obtains two 76.2 mm AA guns. The 130mm main battery is now ONLY on Bogatyr. Anyone with one of these ships will be compensated with ownership of both. Anyone with both will be compensated with:

  • 1 credits supercontainer
  • 1 resources container
  • 1 day premium account
  • 750 Free XP

The last tweak to AA affects all tiers. Previously, all ships had an AA DPS + flak bursts if their AA was powerful enough. Now, flak bursts are given determined by the amount of heavy AA weapons on a ship(75mm and greater). Heavy AA guns no longer contribute to DPS, and a ship with only heavy AA has no DPS at all.

4.  Return of Old Scenarios

Many players have been clamoring for the return of some Scenarios. After being shelved for over a year, Ultimate Frontier & Operation Cherry Blossom have returned. These are now open to any ships in their respective tiers. Changes made while they were on hiatus can be seen here. Be mindful that availability is subject to change, and we will be keeping a close eye on any glitches.

What does @Lose_dudes & @Hapa_Fodder think?

Fair. That being said, I would NOT want to design a full on patch... that involves A LOT more work than people realize LOL

Ideal “fabric” patch: US state & Canadian province seals/flags

Ideal software patch:

- Return of odd tier CVs (Essex, Taiho, etc.)

- European cruiser line (Dutch)

-Premium ship for patch: European CA Georgios Averof

- Dockyard (Trieste) for European BB Ersatz Monarch (Austro-Hungarian 14” gun BB)

- Add port of Piraeus (Athens)

- Buffing DFAA consumable

- Buffing secondary build captains skills to the point where there is actually a hard decision for one to make between Deadeye/Survivability and Brawling builds

Gameplay patches:
- A Commonwealth patch focusing on Destroyers and Cruisers of Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India and perhaps South Africa. Each nation having their own unique gameplay niche, such as Canada having an anti-submarine focus
- Weather and Environmental patch, adding changing sea conditions such as wave height that slightly increases dispersion of your weapons and much more dynamic weather including time of day and fog. Also included would be functional searchlights on ships which would track with your mouse aim, slightly negating the decreased visibility of night battles.
- Campaign Mode: It's been years since we've seen a game like Battlestations Pacific that has given us an actual story-driven campaign mode for a naval combat game. Theres a few ways such a mode could be implemented here in WoWS as both a solely singleplayer or co-op experience, but I'd have to write up a whole article on it which I'm far too lazy to do at this moment.
- The return of PvE Operations, and more of them.  @Hapa_Fodder, as you can see above, Black_hull4 makes a fantastic point about how you've halved the number of Operations and have yet to even hint at a possible return of the rest of them in over a year.  The last time I had any tangible information it was that Weegee had completely halted all development relating to PvE Operations outside of the obvious April Fools and Halloween events.  I spent hundreds developing a whole new voice set for Operation Dynamo, I'd really like to actually use it some day....   ;P
- Additional game modes.   Capture the flag, convoy escort, and attack/defend game modes immediately spring to mind for new mode additions, they could all be put on a weekly rotation along side the standard modes.
[EDIT] - Oh, and a patch that completely overhauls the game's vocals from the ground up; no changes in the coding or anything like that, just new actors. A problem WoWS has every time they release new content is they have to record new dialogue for it. For example, the guy who does the voice for the upcoming submarine dialogue doesn't sound anything like the guy telling me about my repair consumables. Theres no consistency between the voices, and, if I'm gonna be totally blunt, I've heard better acting in school plays.   SO! A total refresh of all the dialogue, every file, every language, every gender. If our work on Mermaid's Wrath has proven anything it's that there IS a want for both quality female voices in the game, and well-acted voices in the game.

Patch patches:
- @Hapa_Fodder, your misunderstanding of the purpose of this thread actually brings up a not-terrible idea, why not have another design-a-patch contest? It's been a good long while since the last one and I'm sure the community wouldn't mind another chance to flex it's creative muscle
