I have ranked out of old ranked once and I have been into Gold the last season. It still does not matter. Because the system is twice as long for half the gains. I do think it has something to do ranking out in Bronze each season, as long as its not tier 10. The previous season was T7, my favorite tier, and so is the new season although I've been playing a lot of T6 ships for fun. I generally don't go into Silver league though.
