Nerf the Thunderer already, WG

I am saying this as someone who owns the Thunderer: It needs to be nerfed. Badly. It's a fun ship to play, yes, but absolutely miserable to play against. There's no point in trying to use your DCP intelligently against it and saving DCP for 2+ fires since the Thunderer is going to set you on fire again as soon as the fires go out and/or DCP ends.

By WGs own standards, since the Thunderer is considered a Special/Reward ship and not a premium, it can be subjected to nerfs.

I think the only nerf coming will be a nerf foam cushion for the Captain's seat so AL Nelson can sit comfortably in it because it makes her (WG's words, not clearly mine, I swear.) "Bounce" every time the guns are fired. 😏

Fires have always been toxic, and yet they’ve remained more or less unchanged this whole time.

Never say never but I have my doubts that that is going to happen. The backlash and rage from the owners would be as yet unseen levels.

Remember the GC? It was the hot OP premium BB a few years ago. WG's plan was to rebalance it directly and the players spoke....loudly...that they wanted it left alone.  WG relented and said ok fine, we were going to try to fix it, but you want it left OP.

Interestingly, as hot of a topic as it was, I rarely even see the thing mentioned anymore.

If they won't nerf CV's which are even more OP and toxic than Thunderer.... well crap.... they just buffed CV's.... negating torp damage on all cruisers is insane.... but they did it.

Thunderers are very easy to sink.

There are other BB's that are more difficult but they still sink in the end. Or I do. "From hells heart I stab at thee etc." a cookie for anyone who can figure that movie out.

If they wanted to nerf Thunderer they would have done so before pulling it from the Armory. If they touch it specifically in the near future the outcry will be huge, regardless if deserved or not.

I was in randoms today.  the team had 2 thunders.  We lost.  no nurf required when the thunder's sat at the back and gave the caps away to the Yami's.

No, in point of  fact, CVs are not OP.  All you anti-CV whiners conveniently forget who ridiculously OP pre-rework CVs were when CV players would decide to  eliminate a single ship and remove it from the map in pretty much one alpha strike.  Compared to that, how dare any of you try to call post-rework CVs OP!!!  :Smile_izmena:

I am saying this as someone who pays taxes.  Taxes need to be nerfed.  Badly.

They won't nerf a specific ship when it is performing nearly the same as its tech-tree counterpart and Thunderer is actually performing slightly worse than Conqueror

CV are OP.

 

In any given game in which there are 2 or 4 CV on the team.  Unless it is completely GAF, the CVs are always the last to die, and even if they do die, they remain in control of planes on the map.  Every other ship is dead when it is dead.  Clearly, this is an OP skill to have.

 

I love how you pro CV whiners 'forget' or choose to 'ignore' facts.  At least in the pre-rework, some ships had AA that worked.  Another fact that is conveniently forgotten.

As another Thunderer owner, I mostly agree with you, though I hope that WG looks at the entire method of multiple fires and tweaks it rather than just the Thunderer. Yes, IMO she's the "worst" offender. And it is tragically hilarious how often you can shoot a ship and get 2 or 3 fires with each salvo. Hopefully WG really reduces the ability to get more than one fire going.

Fires have always been very manageable.  A full FP build ensures it's extremely rare to ever have more than two sticky fires burning at once, and a BB can eat a full duration double fire and heal almost all of it back with one heal (some BBs can heal more than all of it back).  Not to mention that FP actually makes it relatively uncommon to ever have more than one sticky fire burning at once given most players just aim center mass.

 

The issue isn't fires, it's that a few individual ships are over tuned.
