Out of curiosity I purchased 10 of the Italian Random Bundles for a total of 15,000 doubloons The two "prize" items are 10,000 italian tokens, or the tier 9 italian tech tree Battleship.

As expected, out of ten random bundles, all ten were the bottom level item, 600 tokens and either coal or free exp.

Use caution when purchasing these.

48 of the bundles are standard fare.  You were after the TWO that are not.  Yeah, your odds aren't that great.

You do have a point. I decided to test it further. I purchased 30 more of the "Random bundles" for a total of 40 at 60,000 doubloons. ($240)

And you guessed it, 40 straight bottom level "Random" bundles.

Use extreme caution with these.

Actually, use good sense and stay away... buy something more real than a chance.

Dude...ouch!  Remember, these are still just tech tree ships that you can get for free in the near future!

And that’s why, whenever there are doubloon bundles during these early access events, I will only spend the doubloons in one of two situations. Either the first bundle is the huge token amount (depending on the number and what extra token bundles it would open for me), or the first bundle is a ship (and that depends on the tier of the ship).

Remember, RNGesus doesn't put out just because you hand him your wallet

One can make an argument for the jump to a fully researched Tier 9 BB being worth 1500 dubs IF AND ONLY IF that's the first bundle which comes up. At least we get to look at whatever's first/next in line. If it ain't the ship, STAY THE HELL AWAY (and maybe even then; your dubs, your call).

As well as other things. For example, I would have coughed up for any of the British heavy cruisers even at Tier 5, because if you got them in pre-release they came with their permacamos attached and the camos were all worth at least what the bundles cost. In the end, I pulled the Hawkins and the Devonshire from random crates and didn't have to spend anything on either of them.

These random bundle events are always an awful idea. You’re mega whaling for tech tree ships.

These ships are tech tree. not a passing shot at 15 unattainable ships... what ever one does with their money is their business but we are going on a few years of "warnings" concerning tech tree loot boxes.

I've blown a ton on this game but never for something I can get for free in a month. In fact I have so many crappy premiums from santa crates I've never even played them. Flags, camo's and premium time are the real value "term used lightly" concerning how money is spent. Buying or hoping for ships is fools gold. Look at those poor saps that bought the z-44 at tier 9, the only DD's it outperforms is tier 3 or less tech tree ships. .... Seriously.

Only ever buy these boxes if:

  • The first one shown is already a grand prize winner (here, the T9 with 10-point captain)
  • You have a specific number of boxes you're willing to gamble on and the willpower to stop
  • You're willing to buy out the whole pool

Buying tech tree gamble boxes under any other circumstance is a mistake.

Same for me as well, and that was the first EA event I spent doubloons on. My first doubloon bundle was Surrey, and I felt the ship+time+camo+slot+UK cruiser missions access was worth the thousand doubloons, so I bought it day one. Sure, it would have meant I’d get credits if it later dropped from the token bundles, but I had the spare doubloons and made the decision to go for it. And it ended up working out for me, since Surrey never dropped from the token bundles, and I was able to grind enough xp to unlock Albemarle when the line dropped which made it easier to get Cunningham in part 2.

I lucked out and got Lepanto for my first roll. This is the ONLY instance where I would suggest spending 1500 dubs on the bundle system.

Lookie what I just drew on my first bundle, not much of a BB main, so not even sure I want to spend the 1500 Ds.  Off to do a little research...

I was not inclined to buy any bundles, but the 10K tokens was showing as my first bundle so I bit.

Sadly my second bundle was not the tier 9, so I'm done.

All I can say is this is my year (so far).

I was going to buy TWO bundles today (3k dubs).

First one - one of the 48 nothings

Second one - one of the 48 nothings

Sitting in bundle #3 - Lepanto.  OMG.  I am sure RNG mixed up my account with some lucky fellow  because this is just not me.
