Georgia: To be or not to be?

I know her days of availability are coming to a head and thinking I may not be the only one in this boat.

I've gone back and forth about her for some time, and the 2 things that steer me away at the last minute are 6 guns, and the fact I've always been meh about the US BB's. I have the Missouri and have never been able to make peace with that ship. I do enjoy the Mass, but wish she did 30 knots lol.

I know Georgia is fast, but the guns. I've read they are accurate by some, and wonky by others which is a common characteristic all BB's share, some more than others.

I get the feeling she is best suited for engagements in the 10 to 12 km window, and wonder within that range and closer how accurate does she play in comparison to other accurate by reputation BB's?

Last but least, I am a Coop main.

Thoughts?

Are you spending cash, or coal?  Georgia is definitely worth the coal.  If you have a Massachusetts, you might want to save your cash (I don't think the differences are worth it.)

She's a lot of fun. Nothing better than chasing after fast DDs and killing them. The hunter becomes the hunted.

Her guns are literally hit and miss, her secondaries don't feel as good as they once did and her side armour is extremely squishy but once I bought her I play her 10x more than my other tier 9 BBs.

For coop:

1. You got the speed to be in the fight

2. You have a fast reloading heal to heal damage taken in close fights

3. You have 18 inch guns that not only have laser accuracy but reload at a rate rivaling Scharnhorst’s 11 inch guns to overmatch cruiser, punch through BB’s cittadells

4. Good secondaries, one of the only american ships to have secondaries that can go to 10.8 km

Cash, is up to you.  Coal, not even a question if you ask me.  Buy, now.

Georgia is a mutant Iowa with silly gimicks and it's a huge amount of fun.

I like having both my Massa' and my Georgia, they have many similarities but also plenty of differences and can share a same specialised captain.

I mostly play Random with some Ranked, but do play co-op to swiftly knock over the 250 and 500xp daily missions and sometimes to zerg any Dockyard/Event missions that are quicker and more reliable in co-op.

Compared to Massa, she has absurd speed but lacks the agility.

Her guns are *individually* very accurate for American battleships (using the same dispersion as like Alaska and Graf Spee) BUT even with 26s base reload you really, really feel the pain having only 6 guns with only 4 forwards and very average 1.8 sigma, you definitely feel wonky RNG. You can mount the special US Battleship 11% dispersion module in upgrade slot 6. The shells hit like trucks. Trucks made out of bullets and freedom.

I find the hull can feel quite long and squishy at times, I've taken some painfully big hits when I *thought* I had angeled enough. I find Massa's box-shape and agility to be for easier to use. You do however have share a 40s repair party which helps unless you eat cits.

Your turret traverse *is* a bit slow at 45s/180 vs Massa's 36s/180, but I found I don't quite need expert marksman. You can use the turret traverse upgrade in slot 3 if you really want, but I use secondary battery upgrade myself.

Also in co-op you can outspeed many of your kill-stealing, torp spamming team mates.

You can't be overly stupid, and bots are very accurate at close range, but it's still good.

I haven't played it as much as either my Massa or Jean Bart but I definitely don't regret the coal I spent on it. Actual money... that I'll leave to your choice

I have the coal, but curious about what might be coming for coal. We usually have the option to buy tier 9's for cash but not 10's and coal would be the only way to get them.

I've started this Reddit thread based upon what I know from dev' blogs and try and keep it up to date.
We don't know which ships will be doubloons/free-XP/coal/steel/RB etc until they're actually released.

Honestly, note of them look like they out fun the Iowa, yet.

Since Georgia is leaving soon, I would definitely drop the coal now.  If you can get 200K coal in 6 months or less, you should be in fine shape to acquire the next coal ship.

For even better, go read LWM's review if you haven't already.

It *is* a little old now and obviously the Captain skills has changed.

My personal Massa/Georgia build (which I have copy/pasted many times...) is:

Spoiler

My previous Massa & Georgia captain (19pts)
Priority Target, Expert Loader (as I had Halsey/John Doe), Adrenaline Rush, Superintendent, Fire Prevention, Advanced Firing Training, Concealment Expert

My replacement build with Halsey (21pts)
1pt. Gun Feeder (again with Halsey/John Doe buff)
2pt. Priority Target (maybe replace with Grease the Gears if you dislike the turret traverse speed)
3pt. Adrenaline Rush. Long-Range Secondary Battery Shells
4pt. Close Quarters Combat, Emergency Repair Expert, Fire Prevention Expert

Losing Concealment Expert is quite a bit of a loss, although gaining the -10% to main battery reload from Close Quarters Combat and slightly more to repair party is quite nice.

Fastest battleship in the game.
I like her.
I don't regret welcoming her to my port, via the premium shop.

One more incentive I just thought about:   Georgia's snowflake is worth 75 steel.

Get it for coal, it is only 6 guns but they are very comfortable to use.

Well the GA is essentially a Mass that does 40knts, I'd say that's reason enough right there.

The guns are accurate, Battlecruiser dispersion I think. The wonkiness comes from only having 6 guns. Even with good guns you get a one or two wonky shells, and you notice those more with 6 guns as opposed to 9. IMO though the bigger guns and faster reload more than make up for that.

Within 10km the only thing that other BBs have above her is more guns.

Get it. You like Mass and you play Coop. Spec it for Secondaries have fun. I think GA is the most fun Coop boat out there.

The guns are awesome, fast shooting hard hitting and accurate. You eat supercruisers alive and just run over normal cruisers. Spec for secondaries and you chase the DDs, not the other way around. Going 40knts in a BB is just hilarious, and the fast reloading heal is just the cherry on top. Ignore the secondaries and you still have an excellent BB, GA is best when you find a hole in the enemy line, next thing the reds know there's an 18" BB on their flank, there is no better ship for running up a flank. The secondaries are a ton of fun and actually useful. GA is one of those ships that is both really good and really fun.

In summary, GA definitely deserves her place on the list of permanently removed ships.

She is a filthy pleasure in co-op.

Because of her speed you can beat DDs to all the BBs and sink them all before the first DD gets torps out.

DD players will strongly dislike you.

Cruiser players will ask you to leave co-op. Smolly players love it in co-op and a Georgia will make it rough for them each dang day.

Thunderer players will have to actually use speed because of you. You know how annoying burning calories does to a British metabolism?

Russian BBs will speed up too, but only because they don't have the gun range.

You can get 39.4 knots with a speed flag and boost. Them guns hit hard, just aim carefully, and you get used to them.

Drive her like you stole her. She can turn like crazy. I do donuts in mine. It pisses off the RN BBs.

If coop main, hell yeah. Push the speed boost and you are there right behind the tin cans. I had great fun even in randoms with her.Good for flanking maneuvers. That before the rebork, since then I didn't really played PvP.

This was her before the captain rework.

Even tho its not really the same ship after the rework, I for one is dead set on making her work even in this [edited] Dead Eye Meta.

I would recommend you to get her because even without her secondary power she is still a unique ship and very strong.

Mine is fully secondary spec'd, and in coop, you still pile up the hits.  The secondary guns aren't as good as those on the German BBs in the damage they can do, but you get a hella lot more hits.

Plus, bots charge you in coop.  Nose in.  And you have 457s.

Thank you all for chiming in.

It seems the general consensus is "get it" and I think I will. I have to decide now if to use my coal or buy.  I believe she's gone on the next update which I think is soon? With that, would the new coal ships will be coming? I think Marco may be one of them, unless they make it an RB or dockyard thing :Smile_facepalm:
