Best way to use Phoenix?

Anyone known the best way to use the Phoenix? It seems I'm the first one killed in every battle.

I played mine more like a heavy DD. It can get heavily damaged very easily, but it has great guns and torpedoes.

I've learned that the Pheonix seems to work like a heavy destroyer.. It is fairly manouverable, has good speed, and carries light armor, so it should be able to get around the map easily.

Stop trying to be the lead ship as much. Stop rushing into the battle. Take a moment to consider the map and placement of the reds. Oh.. And realize the torps are not the main weapon. Use them cannons baby. Torps to control the battle-area and take out targets of opportunity.

Park slightly behind the main rush. Battleship is preferred. Keep up your speed by running in circles behind the slower ships. - Think escort -

 

GUNS GUNS GUNS..your main hammer power is your broadsides of doom. Torpedoes come second.

 

Use your speed to get into range but not too close. Let the Battleships take the hits, you sit and pound.

 

Once the battle becomes in full swing, then use your speed to find hurt things to pick on, gun down or torp to death.

Battleship escort, and concentrate on enemy destroyers.

 

I've even got one with a torpedo shot blind at the end of an island I knew the enemy DD was passing on the opposite side.

After being sunk quickly....

I began to hug the Battle Ships....

 

Started living longer and causing more damage.....
