That's basically my idea have a game mode where people can only play ships that really existed.

Yes built and sailed is a good way to put it.

Does a ship that went to sea trials but was never commissioned count?

The only things at T10 would be Yamato, Midway, Gearing, Des Moines, and Shimakaze, off the top of my head.

Germany would have nothing above Tier 8. Neither would Russia.

Basically, unless you're playing T10, you'd be food if these were the available ship options.

Oh it gets better. You'd get one BB, 5 cruisers to choose from (3 of which are American), 8 DDs (of which some are repeat classes) And 2 1/2 CVs (Audacious is as designed not as built so that's a bit debatable.)

So that's 16-17 ships for tier X. And about... 8 or so of them are premium. Fun and engaging @Shalung! Fun, and engaging.

Ok maybe we need some rules......

1.)  Ships have to be built and Sailed.

2.)  All Tier's included.

3.)  Fight to the death.

4.)  What else ???

add Somers, and technically Yueyang.  Salem and Worcester were built post-WW2, so they might count

But it still wouldn't make sense as you'd have never seen Yamato fighting against Bismarck for example. End of the day its best we just remember this is an arcade game and trying to force it to feel more simmy will just hurt queue times and MM

Ok, so Erie vs Yamato. Sounds fun and dynamic!

Plus side: probably only overpens.

Down side:  probably kills you anyways.

HMS Daring as well.  HMS Audacious is questionable.  We have her as designed, but she never entered service like that.  By the time she entered service she had an angled flight deck.

There used to be Umikaze terrorizing Yamato’s at tier 10.

Before radar, hydro, the proliferation of CVs, and -/+2 MM, an Ukikaze could faildiv into a game with a Yamato.

It’s concealment and torpedo range were such at the time an Umikaze could pepper a Yamato to death and never be spotted.
