pre-order gold/premium, scam/money grab?

Yes, the title is hard but i discovered a couple things that leave me concerned, pissed and aghast about the preorders ( https://na.wargaming.net/shop/wows/?item=1073 ), bear with me:

1. Preorders opened ONE month after CBT?, really...., also, you get the tokens and premium ships IN CBT, so essentially you're already selling stuff for CBT(it will be given again in release), one thing WG people always loved to bash about gaijin is how they sell stuff for real money in their "beta" game, where do we stand now?....
2. pay attention to the gold and 30 day premium at the end, specifically the small logo bottom right(once you see you can't unsee), they're WOWS ONLY!!, wth, WG always said that the three projects share gold, free xp and same account, yet they're selling a one-game exclusive duplicates of gold/premium? HUH, so if you have an active premium in wot(maybe you bought one year) AHAHA no premium for you tovarish , time to pay for premium and gold AGAIN!. Even with wowp they didn't dare pull such blatant money grab.
3. So what happens when they unify the accounst(wowp didn't unify until at least 2 months after release IIRC)?, will the gold you have left be added to your account or lost?, same as premium time left....

 

This is a blatant an terrible money grab for a game that's nowhere near ready for release, shameful to say the least specially with point 2 i made above

It's a free game.  Now you have the option to buy a package, at a discount, for resources you can use in OBT and beyond into launch.  It's not mandatory.  If you don't want it, don't get one.  Wargaming is a for-profit company.  They have a right to monetize things and make money.  Meanwhile, I get to play a good game.

You are not forced to buy anything. Do what with you want with what you have when you want. People that will buy stuff will buy stuff. I used to work at gamestop and pre-order bonuses are a big thing. Builds more hype. makes company money....people get more stuff.  everyone can win in their own way.

I have those same concerns. With what Gunlion had to say recently about "perception", It makes me wonder if he was aware of this plan or not.

 

I spent quite a bit of money over the years on WoT and I can afford it, but frankly at this point I don't see the value in spending money on WoWS if it doesn't translate in to the game after release. Selling in game content for use in beta is a bad idea. This game has so much potential, but at this point the "perception" they are perpetuating is dong real damage to the viability of the game.

A small correction Thunder: the preorders WILL be given to you once the game releases again. i.e.:

you buy 30 day prem, you get them active NOW, but when game goes live your 30 days will be activated AGAIN.

 

and the two guys above missed the point completely, stop being WG shills because that's what you sound like, and that attitude of "you dont have to buy if you dont want" is dumb and doesn't helps anything or anyone, by your line of thought anything goes because you're not obligated to buy and that's simply so wrong at a level so basic i don't know how to explain it.

From my perception is...if you are in beta..........and go ahead and buy a thing You Would Already Buy At Launch then you have a rare opportunity to see how you would spend that in your own way early.......or....you can now see actual player videos or streams soon of people playing these for sale ships and decide now what your choice is on buying or not of those things

 

. I'm seeing more advantages with this than not. People keep complaining about this and that strategy and i'm getting tired of the vocal minority getting on the forum to post their discomfort all to let some random guy who's not been here before get turned off by a minority impression of the state of this game.

 

To recap

1). Do with YOUR money as you wish

2) Refer to Rule 1 over and over if you can't comprehend that madness.

3) We are not on the conference calls...so there remains a lot of info or timelines we do not know.

4) We are ultimately what covers the bills for them and our input IS critical, however we are not shareholders who get to make demands and see action based on that only to get mad because an aspect of a game was not executed to Our personal expectation.

 

Personally i'm hyped and ready to play....these forums are in danger of getting toxic and I refuse to let that quietly happen. This game is being judged harshly by unrealistic criteria and immature people who honestly don't know what they are talking about. People are making snap posts making calls for action on metrics they don't understand. People are making negative accusations about a building (the game) is nearing completion and they open a shop outside to pre-sell the goods within and saying "how dare they".

WoWP had unified account since at least some time in OBT, yes, you can cash in the tokens there for premium time for use in the then only other choice, World of Tanks, without touching your World of Tanks' gold stock. They even have this offer that we get to keep all the premium time we have at the end of OBT be carried over to live (and they were kind enough to convert leftover tokens to premium days if we didn't buy them on a 2500 per 1-month rate), and a premium plane that carries over to live if it was purchased by tokens in OBT.

 

I have no comment on this, as I do not make purchases anyway.

premium in WG is UNIFIED, read again UNIFIED, yet they're double selling it for WOWS.

 

how would you feel if you bought season tickets for your favorite sport but when you go to use they say to you "oh no tovarish, you need to buy again this ticket is for this game only xaxaxaxa". Yeah.. i'm sure you'd be all "but this is for our advantage" and "it's my money i do what i want and pay twice like good sheeple", because this is what WG is doing.

well if what i heard about it being unified upon release of OBT then premium time carries to your other WoWP and WOT anyway so your still getting that. And assuming it's unified upon launch then your premium timer will match in WoWS what it was in WoT upon that.

i dont think it will be unfiied on launch because when gamer launches they usually have these events on who reaches tier 10 first with huge rewards, and someone with premium will get there much faster where's the fair play there?.

Then again, they're already selling premium time that will active on release so.... caveat emptor i remain skeptical

 

In wowp for example they did that, unification didn't happen until at least 1.5/2months into the release

Kind of the same thing I am wondering.  I want to buy the triple threat package but I want to know if I will get the gold and premium time for tanks also.  Will I get that time now, or will I have to wait for the unified account to happen.  The accounts are somewhat unified now because I use the same login info for both games so just wondering.  I also noticed that premium time at the bottom for being for warships only and that is confusing because we are supposed to have unified accounts at some point.

 

I just want some clarification before I go spending my money.  I like the game, I enjoy it, I have no qualms about spending money, I just want all the information before I decide to spend.

WOWS is not part of the unified account yet. Same thing happened with WOWP beta.

You will have to wait. You will have the gold in WOWS now and then when game goes live you get it again and it should be available in WOT as well.

I stopped playing WoT a long time ago, but I still have over 12k gold on my account.

 

My interest in WoWS has been piqued, but it was conditional on being able to use my unified account gold to be able to buy extra ship slots and premium account (I cannot bear grinding through F2P games on regular accounts, my time is more precious to me than my money).

 

If I'm not going to be able to use my unified account gold in WoWS, well, that's one less player coming into the game...too bad, it really looks like it might be a lot of fun.

Well the devs are on record repetedly stating that the stuff carrys over for OPEN BETA, and when asked (repetedly) if the stuff you buy for open beta rolles over to live they will repete that the stuff bought durring CBT for Open beta will carry over to Open Beta.

 

Cant get any more clear than that.
