This is an Open apology and promise

Yesterday my grandkids were playing together and One lost to the Other and man all hell broke loose because I told my 9 yr old grandkid to have some character and accept being beaten and That you can't win every game and being a poor sport ruins the game for everyone else and don't be a Brat (Papa is wise )

One hour later My granddaughter calls me on Skype and asked me Why I ( meaning me) could be a poor sport but she couldn't. I answered her with I am not a poor sport To which she replied  Wrong Papa ! You can be a real bad sport in your ship game and BOOM!!! ( Grand daughter might be wiser)She had me .she asked me about all the times I'm playing with her dad and I get mad and say mean stuff about people should play candy crush and minecraft and my little pony instead of the Ships game among other not so nice things I have said  I have no defense I tried to justify my actions with because I try so hard and I am a team player but at the end of everyone of those excuses I have acted like a poor sport and a Brat

Never again I wish everyone a Great 2021 and I am sincerely sorry

Jr.

Grats on your new and better attitude. You will very likely enjoy the game even more now.

@jr_token this sounds like a New Year's resolution forced upon you by your wise granddaughter! I think you are doing the right thing here and not telling them kids "do as I say, not as I do". :cap_like:

However, most people break their New Year's resolutions by 12 January. How about an update on your progress keeping this promise in a week? :cap_hmm:

Your granddaughter is wise but it takes a wise man to admit error.

 Wrong Papa !

My nieces started calling their uncle out on his inconsistencies when they were about a year and a half old.

When my kids got to a certain age ( 30's )  they started trying to raise ME... Now my Grands call me out when I swear or anything else.

I suppose this is a New Years resolution  and  when I set my mind to something I do it, This does not mean I wont be cussing up a storm But I will vent towards the RNG gods:)  I will Just not be a jerk and poor sport and remind myself it is "Just a Game"

Mine haven't tried to raise me yet. They just complain about my "bad" mannerisms. I don't understand why...it's a known fact that it is better to vent (gas) than to hold it in. Venting eases the pain!

The really hard lesson is learning wisdom from children.  Glad to see you have.:cap_like:

The good news is that he raised the child to have the wisdom in the first place.  :)

Edit:  Were you the guy that made me quit playing CVs a few years back?  I remember hearing the phrase 'uninstall the game and go play ....'   BTW... JK   I sucked at CVs.

JR, you’re lucky you only have to deal with grandkids.  My 5 kids are all still at home (the oldest is only 10!). So I have to mind my manners all the time!

As for the comments to the BBs, ehhh... that’s just “coaching”.

On a more serious note, I’ve found that getting mad at people is more likely to make them dig in their heels and not change what they are doing, simply out of spite.  Often just pointing out the error, without judgment, is enough to get people to move.

Just played 3 games, and in every one, my team decided to abandon a flank.  I’m glad I had just read this thread beforehand...
