I have a Tier Seven Colorado, and please don't laugh. Point is, I researched the Tier Eight North Carolina, which made my Colorado an ELITE ship. Then.........World of Warships simply attaches the new American battleship tier branch ONTO the existing tree and I no longer have an ELITE ship, because NOW I have to spend an additional 140,000 points to research the Kansas! I feel as though, HEY, I HAD an ELITE ship predicated on the existing rules and it's quite UNFAIR and just plain old unprofessional and Czarist to now impose a NEW standard upon me just to allow me to continue to have what I had BEFORE an entire branch was grafted onto the American battleship line THERE. I suspect there are plenty of other Colorado owners out there who had elite status on this old chugger too! I believe all existing Elite Colorado owners should have been grandfathered IN and not required to research the Kansas just to maintain their existing status. I don't ask for a free ride on researching the Kansas IF I WANT TO but I think I could, and others could, be allowed to retain their Elite predicated on what was asked of them to complete when they first EARNED that status.

Were you converting xp off your Colorado with doubloons to free xp? If no, then Elite status really means nothing other than looking fancy.

Narai works rather well for the Colorado.  Just escort the main body of ships and you've done your job.

I'm grinding it too....    Work on it.
By the time I get it, I'll be done with the mission and have  T8 Camo for the Kansas.

Then I'll finish the Campaign and have T9 camo for the Minnesota

What is the point though of a ship having an elite status? The only benefit is the ability to convert Ship XP to free XP which pretty much everyone agrees is a waste of doubloons.

Why on earth do you need Elite status on your Colorado?

Why on earth has WG not given elite ships visible status in game?

Seems like there is an opportunity to monetize things here...somehow?

Shame on you WG for adding new lines. Shame!

Would have been nice if they had started with a lower tier.

You know what, after getting the Oklahoma, nevermind.

Rip offs, rip offs everywhere! They're all out to get you, those damn corporations with their cheap and underhanded tactics! How's a solo supposed to make a fair and honest living in this world where there are rip offs around every corner and all the world's out to scam innocent, hard working people like us?

I have to agree with you. Though I think Elite status also increases the Commander XP pool, which is only a little more helpful. I still had to use up a lot of Free XP because using elite ships for Commander XP takes so darn LONG.

... How? Captain XP isn't dependent on a ship's research status.

I know it sucks. I am lucky that WG gave me Kansas for free.

One showed up in my Port too. I wasn't playing the game much at the time either so the event must have been pretty easy, I wasn't even paying attention.

Short answer, no.

WeeGee adding new content is always a good thing. Granted playing a Colorado at tiers 8, 9 and 10 means that once I have them they'll become event ships but that's just me.

Just think, if only there had been a set of free combat missions to get Kansas in early access for free.....

Then I wouldn't be able to complain at all....

So, if you already had a Colorado with Elite status and then you got a Kansas for free, does the Colorado retain its elite status?  Does the Kansas show as being already researched?  Inquiring minds what to know!

I earned Kansas for free with premium cammo.

Colorado is elite.

On the plus side, the Colorado is actually not bad, regardless of it's cosmetic status.  I was expecting a junk ship, based on what I'd read of other players' opinions.  But it's got accurate guns that hit hard, and can tank damage all day if you're careful about keeping your bow pointed in the right direction.  The secondaries are okay too, except they tend to get destroyed before you ever get to secondary range.  The only major drawback is the speed.

That's pretty much how I saw it.

I rebought it a while ago, but the speed, on high tier maps? Couldn't do it lol.

Nope, "elite" means literally nothing and does even less

Elite Status really doesn’t provide any practical benefit unless you’re converting EXP. I never elite any of my stuff when doing an RB run because what a waste of XP when I reset it again later 🤔
