I took a year off from the game and I notice that his last q n a was over 245 days ago or something. Did he leave Wargaming or get promoted to a higher level in the company? He used to be very active in the community and it is concerning to not see a post from him on the reddit in awhile. Can someone fill me in on what happened with him?

He is still active, he is part of the "suits" now... He now tells everyone what to do at a global stage.

Here's his profile on russian forums, seems his last response was by end of october.

https://forum.worldofwarships.ru/profile/3787415-sub_octavian/

Though it's true that he has disappeared from any english speaking forums/reddit, guess by now he's a red rag to a bull for many players since he was at the forefront of CV rework and other fun stuff.

He was once a well liked person representing WG to the playerbase, but the way he spoke back at players on reddit when answering criticism and defending the method of obtaining Puerto Rico of last christmas event made him loss respect of many player ontop of his defense of the CV rework around the time.

Honestly, is listening to his condescending [edited] something you want?

The way he treated the player base during the PR event was indicative of what he thinks of us. Glad to not have to read his schmeck anymore.

They used to call it a lateral move until the choices are the windows and stairs.

He was on Bogsey (hope I got that right...for some reason I always space on his name)*** & Synpax's podcast awhile back...that was at least a couple months ago but it wasn't that long ago.

It was very informative...it covered a lot of content...including the Khaba (his choice for the "sink a ship" segment) which is now getting a buff (the BB AP thing) which I think may have been on account of it.

Edit: ***Nope... doesn't come up when I try to tag it... @Synpax... what's your cohorts name again? Spacing out. @Boggzy...(there it is...referenced in the next thread..go figure)...sorry dude...the "Z" threw me off...thought I was getting the pronunciation right anyway :-)

& can you supply a link to the issue w/Sub Oc for the OP please?

He's moved on (and up) from community engagement, does other things for WG now. He's still around now and then, but I think he has other focuses now. He also got clobbered pretty hard by the community (especially reddit) over his statements and responses on the CV rework and especially the Puerto Rico incident which, well let's just say he became the face of everything people didn't like about WG at the time which wasn't entirely fair to him.

A bit of a shame, he was quite active and usually had useful things to say, especially here on the forums. But I guess people move on.

Some say promoted, some say Gulag, why cripple with semantics?

I remember when he lied to the entire community by saying that Gorizia was the main prize during the Puerto Rico event.

To be honest, he was a bad choice to go on reddit.  He had a tendency to lose it, and you don't bring a can of gasoline to a crowd of people carrying torches.

When you're the face of this, its best to not be seen much.

Pretty sure it was a promotion.... which for us is probably not a good thing since he now get's a "vote" in product development.  He has shown a strong devotion to the random battle is king philosophy which means if we want to see more Operations, special event modes, maps, etc.  we are likely to be (more) disappointed.  Most importantly, I have seen little evidence showing that he values community input, which is probably the biggest failing what WG currently has...so we will continue to get more of same... for better...er....  I mean for worse or worser.

WG's handling of the PR was not good, and I agree that Sub on reddit definitely didn't help matters. He always had a tendency towards fast and funny responses, and that wasn't appreciated by the royally pissed off playerbase at the time.

i guess that fragile ego of his wasnt able to take anymore flak from people that were rightfully pissed off at WG, now hes somewhere where he doesnt have to deal with his ego being hurt

This is the name that should not be said as this will summon him.

Or say his name 3 times into a mirror and see what happens.

Ahh yes I do remember that event and boy did it divide a lot of us. The event was bad for many reasons and I don’t know why they are continuing with dockyard events honestly. I doubt that sub octvain would actually show up on a thread like this .

..In walks S.O. "You summoned me?"  Big giant chair with lizards all over turns around and Dasha sitting in it.

Dasha: "You didn't make players happy. Even my bots.(points to Cylon Centurions) are not happy."

S.O. "I did as you asked, tried new things, added new dockyard, bunnies, oh, bunnies got cancelled because bear ate them."

Dasha: "The Board sends you to do work elsewhere beyond the Warships realm."

S.O. "Okay, I guess that is better than the windows or the stairs."

Dasha: "Fail me again and bots will have at you right Lucious. (Cylon draws sword) I expect no more problems next year. The bots want to party now."

Lucious: "By your comand." Cylon Lucious does the robot dance while swinging sword at S. O.

S. O. runs out of the room.

Dasha: "And now for the Pokemon and Sailor Moon Crossover event. Bring in Tuxedo Mask."

Tuxedo: "Hi, uh I seem to be lost."

Dasha: "No, you are right at home. Right Lucious?"

Cylon Lucious drags Tuxedo away....
