If it is likely to show up this time next year, I have time to get more coal. If you think it will be sooner, I can wait. I got a Pommern in a Christmas Crate and was thinking about getting Gunther Lutjens to stick in it. There is a coupon that I can use to get the Thunderer for 189k. 97% of my battles have been in USN ships - mostly DDs. Recently I've been thinking about fighting another nations ships, coincidentally, GB and Germany. Any thoughts you might have would be appreciated. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

As far as when Black will be available, I don't think anyone outside of WG really knows. If you can get the Thunderer, do so, because you will not regret it and it looks like you will have some time to collect more coal for when the Black does appear. Had Flint already (Steel), got Neustrashimy from Santa crate (was assured for me as I was only missing 2 ships off the list - it and Z35 - so I didn't get it with Coal), and have all the other Coal ships. Radar + smoke is a recipe of OP in many's eyes. Black is too good to be coal to be honest. BTW, both Neustrashimy and Flint was NEVER being considered as OP. Not much for playing Cruisers. Discovered the Flint was kinda like a up-gunned Benson with a hydro. Now I really like playing her. Got the Z-35 in a Santa crate. Black isn’t close to being “too good to be coal.” The ship’s short duration radar is really only useful for panic flushing DDs out of their smoke, unless you have a coordinated division of ships that will actually focus fire what you spot. I suspect WG didn’t want to drop Black, Flint, and Neustrashimy in the same patch and held off on Black to spread out their content. Especially since the recent announcement of Georgia and Thunderer leaving armory is likely to suck up a lot of players’ coal. Not that it provides a known price, but Black was going for about 68% the cost of the Neustrashimy when both were listed for steel If that ratio holds for coal, the Black would be ~ 202,000 ... I wanted Black for the longest time, and when I got it, I was disappointed. Frankly, Black has been power crept into oblivion. I got Thunderer thinking it would be just a 457mm Conqueror. I didn't expect much. Once I played it however, I was very much impressed. Thunderer is flat out Awesome. You will LOVE it. There is a reason WG is removing it. Thunderer is so good, don't be surprised if WG finds a way to "globally" nerf it at some point. Really, it's no contest at all: get Thunderer. You will never regret it. It was pulled same time as Neut & Flint (they were all steel ships at that time) & hasn't returned yet...but by the time it does (they did state they would all be available for coal at some time) OP will have plenty of time to farm more coal for it.
