Any other "year end" sales that WG puts out? When's dockyard?

I am pretty sure that they put premium time on 50% sale right around Xmas... are there any other sales & discounts? They're going to have to start the dockyard event soon, right?

I'm asking b/c I don't need premium time, seems like I am unable to actually burn through it... and I still have over 350 days (thanks Verizon...) I don't have any interest in the Xmas crates, only partly b/c of the short list, but primarily because there really are only a handful of ships I'd want anyway and I don't need camo or flags... so I'm curious if there will be anything else for sale coming up and if anyone knows or has a good guess on when they (and the dockyard,) might come.

This is a short patch; couple of weeks at most until the Dockyard patch drops.

I fretted last year because the premium time sale seemed late, but it eventually happened after Christmas. You will be able to pick up Tachibana and Yahagi for free if you grind at least partway through Dockyard. Love 'em or hate 'em as you will, but keep them in port and that will lock them out of ever dropping in a container.

The Christmas event that will run in parallel with that will give Tier 7 Strasbourg, and then there will be a mad rush to finish the complimentary campaign which drops a bunch of T5 tech tree ships with event permacamos. No doubt some people who kept everything always will grab quite a few duplicate credits out of that. I wouldn't put it past WG to sell the Strasbourg so that people can get started on both campaigns at once - it's exactly what they did for the Duke of York in 2017, the Prinz Eitel Friedrich in 2018, and the Gorizia last year, although the tech tree ships served up in those were Tier 6 and the camos in last year's event were those Tier 8 linky things.

Thanks for the info. I had forgotten about the Strasbourg. Based on what you're saying though, other than the Dockyard boost & Prem time - we aren't expecting any additional sales, right?

I honestly don't know. They could throw anything at us, and now that they've been bullied into apology-and-refund mode, who knows what they will offer?

I'm always on the lookout for a good bargain, so if something is offered I will pounce. I still have a doubloon coupon lying around. Wonder what I should do with it...

Discount Ship coupons refresh on the 18th if u want to save some for doubloon or resource bote purchases (make sure u use the one u have before the 18th & you’ll get a new one on that date).  WG also dropped 3 additional discount coupons for armory doubloon purchases last year — not sure if this will become an annual thing, but a possibility also.

I was absolutely stunned by their refund offer yesterday... had to be Verizon pressuring them to do it. Either way, although I hadn't bought any Santa crates (there really isn't value for me,) I do want to "reward" the gesture and buy something.

That's exactly where I'm at. Pretty sure I'm going to get a ship from the Armory with my 25% off coupon before it expires the 19th. Though I was hoping for some more info before I decide to pull the trigger.

Likely something if the santa crates don't do well. EOY sales figures will likely drive the final discount and promotion. WG corporate need to see the game is in the black, and all of the promotional spend WOWS has been involved elsewhere this year will likely eat into that figure. So figure if you aren't interested in Santa Crates, take a hold position. Worse case scenario they'll likely have an Italian BB event as soon as Q1 of 2021 if not sooner....

The Russians DO NOT celebrate Christmas on 25 December as most of the world does, they celebrate it on 7 January; so that is why the snowflake event and dockyard event are in the next patch 0.9.12, look for your deals to be in that patch if they offer any.

Yes, I remember, those coupons had a shorter shelf life but they were, if I am remembering correctly, one 20%, one 15%, and one 10% off.

Perhaps that was their plan all along! :Smile_trollface:

The other thing to consider is that WoWs doesn’t run “Christmas” events. They sidestep this whole issue by running “New Years” events instead.

Make sure you use that coupon a day or two early to ensure you don't get caught with the usual early server time that it expires.

"bullied"

Sure, okay.  I hope you realize if a casino did this the lawsuit would be so big that heads would be rolling.  People who think this and defend WG should probably read in between the lines-- WG was *not* bullied.  Its sad you think that, because if that was the case the PR fiasco last year would've forced WG to do stuff to lessen the grind.

Why did they do things this time?  Because their legal team behind the scenes shat a brick.  And I wonder why that was.

I really would love for legal action to happen and an investigation be placed revealing the truth on how the mechanics work, mechanics that WG clearly did not communicate.  It'd shut people like you up real fast.

I was stunned as well.. But question?   Why would Verizon pressure them with anything?  Verizon partnering with WOWS for a charitable event for NA,   doens't really seem to dictate that Verizon would have any  ability to "pressure" WG into anything or even be appropriate?

I look forward to the snowflake event that brings in coal and possibly a chance of steel. Nothing but rumors this year. But all the ships in port are configured and ready to harvest at least coal around the holidays.

The Christmas in America is different than that in Russia which is early January. Which I am pretty sure is different elsewhere more or less.

The refund situation is a first but will play out in due time. I personally am happy that is availible but does not change my game play with Wows. Its been a pretty steady progress this year and already look forward to next year's planning and progress. I think 6 to 12 months ahead. If any of you play STO online you can see what that comes from as they sometimes have annual or 6 month events every year. You plan for those in that game. Example upgrade month you have a years worth of upgrade cards to spend on ships and everything else without cost during those events. Alot easier than committing real world cash in that game although that is a option itself.

Back to holiday, Dockyard will fire up again in a few weeks or less. We will all know when it does. Im already planning on a bulk coin buy to possibly clear the dockyard stages out on day one if not sooner. Because the discount is worth it per stage (26 total times about 1750 coins) and the items offered for all stages balances out the real world dollars spent more or less in addition to the ship. I do this because I do not grind things in time to complete dockyard its too much. Particularly the first PR Fiasco.

And I think in the future there will be regular events as we always have next year every so often. Alot of it is to drive revenue is what the reason de'entire (Purpose of existance to make a living) so planning for them in advance makes it possible you are ready for them when it becomes live in game.

Verizon sponsored a tourney with serious money. They also committed other dollars in large amounts.

Verizon's hope with this effort is to gain a larger paying customer base who were previous not on Verizon and are in game in numbers large enough to make this worth trying. If the Tourneyment event and associated marketing by Verizon is successful then they gain monthly paying cell phone customers. And Wows gains more exposure to other people who might be with verizon but do not know about wows. Its a mutually beneficial arrangement. Not to mention little old me enjoying a visit to a tourney online over two days past with 18 thousand other people in real time. I cannot imagine how big the servers must be to support that load. However I think Verizon has the level three fiber needed to make it happen in real time.

Events like that provided me a oppertunity to possibly acquire certain items at a discount that otherwise does not exist in game play and our clan played I think two of the early matches in the beginning, won one and fumbled the other and thats that for our clan going any further. So watching O7, BANCV and other Clans particularly Army and Navy etc fight in real time is a education. You dds stay away from radar ships... etc.

Wows is a big time outfit themselves I think they are based in Cyprus which is over in the Mediterranean Sea. They are quite Russian by religion but are influenced by local Nations in that area. So when you consider the exchange rate against American dollars and American Customers playing the game and paying dollars they make out pretty good.

It takes about two American Dollars to get one Cyprus Pound or 1.21 US dollars to get a Euro. according to this site https://coinmill.com/CYP_USD.html

Its a fairly good position to be in when American dollars are beneficial. There are nations in which our dollars make it easier to visit in terms of spending and some nations not so easy and we have to put up more dollars to spend. I remember when Canada was 35% cheaper in American dollars 30 years ago and going to Canada in trucking was the same as recieving a 35% pay raise so we could buy everything up there and bring it back to the USA particuarly food. So currency is its own advantages and disadvantages.

Verizon does too in the end hopefully with International cell customers which probably will rake in more for them. I don't worry about high level stuff too much, I am not a supervisor or boss anymore just me. Which is fairly fun for once instead of having to get into what everyone else is trying to do. =) Good luck.

Snip with a whole lot of off topic stuff?

Verizon & WOWS did a great thing sponsoring an event for American veterans and wounded warriors.  WOWS was a partner for that event...       Verizon didn't likely give wargaming themselves a dime.. why would they?     They helped sponsor a tourney to help generate interest in  a charity event? Do we know that WG themselves didn't put up some of that money?     Not a dime was required from customers of WG to play in that event.  Exactly how did WG financially benefit from this to the point that it would then bow to pressure from Verizon?  And I seriously doubt Verizon made any demands on WG to refund the santa crates sold due to unhappy customers...    This all seems like a bit of a stretch that Verizon would even give a crap how WOWS runs their profit model.

They are probably trying to create some form of offering to the player base to make up for the x-mas crate fiasco.

No, the players created the issue because they got Makarov first instead of something else beginning with M.

Rumors? The snowflake event has been announced as coming next patch, and the rewards have already been advertised.

Best sale is probably going to be the Dockyard again. This time if you buy phases and then complete them you will get both Steel and RB points for each phase. So if you are interested in those it is a good sale on top of the goodies of course.

Don't bother, he's tone deaf about CVs and the santa box situation.

He can't see that when it comes to gambling-oriented pay models the rules must be stated explicitly.  And that he wants to frame it as "hurr durr, people are salty they got a bad ship named Makarov" when in reality, Makarov isn't the issue.  Its the fact that WG was stupid enough to place a ship that was very rare in their not-so-rng-touted-as-rng boxes and enough people got together and noticed that to prove its rigged.

Makarov was merely a tool in discovering the underhanded practice, nothing more.
