OK, there's what, a half-dozen rage threads right now. Has anyone heard anything from WG officially in response?

What response is needed?  This is F2P Lootboxes.  This isn't the mid-late 2000s anymore when these first came out.  I'm not sure what people are expecting from Lootboxes.

Everybody thinks they're going to be the high rolling winner when the truth is they're likely going to get taken to the cleaners.

I mean the smartest thing for them to do is to be silent, let this burn out and see exactly how many of the "MY WALLET IS CLOZED!!111!one!!" brigade actually sticks to it 'til mid January. Then adjust future policy based on that.

(And yes I've posted lots about it today)

The evidence for the existence of the "short list" at this point is pretty damning. You'll get an official response at some point, and it'll be mealy mouthed beyond all belief.

I don't have a dog in this fight since I don't buy crates.

I just want to hear from them for entertainment value. Having watched Sub and Conway sing and dance after the CV Rebork, GC re-tier fail, PR, and #notoNTC I figure this will be good for a laugh too. :Smile_teethhappy:

Think about this... if they do anything and suddenly ships start poodooing out of the woodwork which were not showing prior to all this, people would rage even more. As they would claim you changed things - I want my monies back.

So changing things would just make it worse. You think they'd make adjustments of any kind? There's far too many opportunities to mess up any returns or credits. It looks to me this lobster pot is just gonna have to boil.

Response to what>?

You "gambled" and lost>???

Don't Gamble and you won't feel bad losing.  If you want to make a difference, contact your Federal representative and ask for Video game reform..........the Government are the only people this foreign corporation has to listen to......

There's a solid solution:  Don't gamble or contact the Federal Government........anything else isn't relevant......

I don't think there will be any response aside from a vague, "there's RNG involved with all ship drops, some drop more often, some less".

All that said, it's pretty bad publicity in the light of the Verizon Tournament this weekend and I can imagine there will be some rage on chat there.

I'd happily buy crates if they could contain steel (at a reasonable drop rate), there is literally nothing in these crates I care about.

Indeed, quite a tricky thing to rollback or to add "extra clarification" in the news article.

I mean a real powerplay would be to gift THE ENTIRE PLAYERBASE with a Makarov.

I'd laugh.

This doesnt seen different from the last several years. How many folks got multiple KK/Okhotniks in seasons past? Seems to be the same mechanic.

This. Easier to ask for forgiveness than permission kind of mentality. They can always make some apology/compensation/change-of-heart/feel-good PR speech after they cleared the bank accounts. Saying sorry and acknowledging the issue afterwards makes it all better doesn't it---I mean, they'll address it so that in itself shows that they are aware of player feedback, right?

How many users actually visit the forums or subreddit or discord for this stuff? Best we can do is mass spam in-game chat about this to reach the playerbase and raise awareness.

I'd be more likely to pay for that than a Santa crate.

or do the PR fiasco again from yesteryear:

Release excitement news of how to obtain PR----oh wait, its not about the PR, its about the Genova

----------

Release exciting news about Santa Crates to get ships---oh wait, its about getting those X ships that are disappearing from future circulation, not about having to ramp up from shortlist checklist and not all ships have equal chance of dropping.

Good heavens, yes! :Smile_teethhappy:

There's nothing quite as entertaining as corporate suits doing damage control. Can't wait.

Has the Orifice Oracle spoken yet?

Lootboxes are bad enough that Communist China required game companies to disclose odds over there.

Some countries don't even allow them.

Electronic Arts fought tooth and nail for Lootboxes.  Hell, they even added them to games you had to BUY to play them.

I couldn't care less what action they do or don't take. I don't buy crates.

I just want to see the lobsters boogie like James Brown trying to calm the rioting mob. :Smile_teethhappy:

after the whole blizzard and ea and rocket league fiasco so does the US plus there is a bit more required after they added to the law. 1. they have to list what is in the crates and 2. it has to remain 100% random unless they apply for a license for games of chance( i am not talking about losing money i am talking about it has to be 100% random with no short list type of rules or they will be required to obtain a license for game of chance). there is a few other things they added in the past year to it too.

It reminds me:  Towards the end of my career in the Marines, I had this one Sergeant in my shop that had issues gambling.  He'd ride his motorcycle home from work and often made his way to the Casino / Resort on the way back.  It got to the point he couldn't make his bills, his wife was getting "upset" and to the point the USMC, i.e. "Me" had to get involved.  The Sergeant was a grown a** man, not some 18-19 year old with their first paycheck in their adult life.

It was unfortunate.  This Sergeant was one of my best in my shop and knew how to run things very well, but man, everyone has a VICE, and that Marine's vice was gambling.

You also made me remember something totally unrelated:  I had this young Marine in trouble.  It was over some stripper.  However, that other stripper was the wife of another Marine on the base.  It got to the point the Sergeant Major of our command and the other SgtMaj of that other Marine's command were involved.  That was some **** right there!

Right on schedule working as intended. WG cannot end a year without a dumpster fire happening.
