I don't post often, and rarely rant, but I'm pretty frustrated with WG right now. I bought the Alaska-B as part of the black Friday special. This is the most expensive premium I've ever bought for WOWS or WOT. I justified it to myself because It looked like I got an easy mission included which would give me back 2500 doubloons and 100,000 free xp. After a few battles, I noticed it was not counting my wins. So I filed a help ticket. I figured there must be something wrong. Much to my surprise, WG just pointed out the fine print which said the included mission required use of the regular Alaska, not the black. wth? Why would anyone buy a black version of a premium they already had?!? That makes no sense!

I had a similar issue once, same result. To be fair, when I looked at the announcement it was pretty clear that was a bonus they were throwing to people who already had the ship. They do that because those folks are often upset they can’t get an “all black” camo for the ship they already bought.
Still, all of this could be avoided by not releasing the same ship with two colors as a separate offering. One would think they could be a tad more creative. Besides, we have enough ship models without resorting to duplicates.

It’s more or less designed to be compensation for people who accidentally end up with Alaska b when they already have an alaska, which is entirely possible since you get ships at random from loot boxes.

Alaska is a great ship though.

Well, it was in the fine print at the end of the page

fine print at the end? It's literally in the first line. "for each ship playing the standard (not black) version..."

And the text always differentiates between the black version and the standard version. There's no ambiguity, if you pay the slightest bit of attention to the description it's as clear as day.

It's actually scary how many people apparently don't read what they're buying before actually buying. I wish I made enough to spend a hundred bucks on something without really knowing what it is....

Countless players make this mistake. Each time, WG pockets the money and refuses to offer any refunds. Then the run the same promotion year after year. The general forum consensus seems to be "Ha ha read better."

It was at the end of the mission page.

Honestly, WG should place it on top

The mission isn't for players who acquire the black versions, it is an incentive for the players who already have the standard version to get the black version.

Thats why the mission is offered.  To incentivize, a 'rebate', to purchase a carbon copy with a different skin..

They could've had it at the top and the bottom, however I suspect it wouldn't change much of anything.  They could have a page that pops up several times that you must confirm that says the following:

Spoiler

"MISSIONS WILL ONLY APPLY TO NON-BLACK VERSIONS!  YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO COMPLETE THESE MISSIONS WITH THE BLACK VERSIONS!"

CONFIRM

It could show up just like that, and we'd still see threads like this.  If anything, I suspect we'd see threads complaining about the confirmation page along side them. :Smile_hiding:

I feel for you, I really do. Sadly WG took advantage  of a single letter; “B” to differentiate between the two versions. Unfortunately it’s you’re fault for not being the wiser. Fortunately, you bought an Alaska; which is effin awesome. Be happy you didn’t buy an Atlanta! Enjoy the crapout of it. I love mine. GL.

Those who see what they want to see instead of whats actually printed... Feel the coming back to reality, as a hard journey. It was their fault to begin with.

There is a problem here....too many players have purchased into this scheme and then found out they have to have the original ship to complete the missions.  If you had any company which pulled the same stunt they would be forced to render an refund to correct the problem.  If that company didn't..they would be sued in a class action lawsuit, lose and then be fined and penalized.  But this is a foreign offshore game and many legal realties which are real do not apply or are moot in any case.   Usually there is a certain amount of players who will eventually forget about this matter but if it continues on or worse gets worse insofar as financial extraction...I don't hold much hope as the word will get around and then WOWs will shed players and players will pull back on spending money...It's all up to WOWs to decide on what they do and how they do it to decide their own business model as far as being a continuing company or a withering one which will eventually collapse in the future.   WG will have to accuratly gauge the player temperament.  It's all up to them.....

Obviously, reading is OP.  Some people never ever make a mistake.  It's always someone else's fault.

Get sunk while standing still behind an island?  Remove those CVs from the game!!!

Get sunk behind same island while sitting still with a DD torpedo salvo?  Nerf those DDs!!!

Push into five enemies, and get burned down the waterline!!!  Remove HE from those cruisers!!

Same BB captain, devstrikes 2 cruisers, thinks he's a God.  It's great when he wins, but if he loses, it's obviously someone else's problem, especially WG's.

That's how this forum is.

"Owners of this bundle will also receive a special combat mission for Atlanta"

Apparently that does not mean what I thought it meant.

From the product description:

Atlanta B is a standalone Premium ship. The only difference in comparison with her standard counterpart—Atlanta—is the color scheme of her permanent camouflage.” (emphasis mine)

This statement establishes that Atlanta and Atlanta B are distinctly separate ships.

This statement is followed by:

“Owners of this bundle will also receive a special combat mission for Atlanta

Five victories gained playing Atlanta in Random, Ranked, or Co-op Battles will bring you 2,500 doubloons“ (emphasis mine)

This clearly specifies the combat mission is for the standard version, Atlanta, rather than Atlanta B, as defined in the quote above.

The purpose of the mission is two-fold:

1) Compensate those who own Atlanta and pull Atlanta B in a container, because they have just pulled a pallet swap clone of a ship they already own.

2) Incentivize those who really like Atlanta and want a “cool black version” to buy Atlanta B by effectively offering an additional discount.

The same language is used for all the Black Friday ships.

No, they didn't.  I see you don't read either.

complete the special combat mission ... playing the standard (not black) version of each black ship.

As well as the several quotes Nevermore cites.

WAIT A MINUTE !!!!!

He bought an ALASKA B .......   and he got a mission for an ATLANTA ????

Nothing like the typical WG typos that we are supposed to scrutinize with attorney precision...
