I really like the Black Friday Tirpitz, but want the overall better ship. Also fun factor is important, I do realize there are some differences, Bismarck has better AA and hydro vs the Tirpitz not having hydro and instead has torps.

As per the title which ships is best overall fun ship for brawling?

Also after the IFHE changes, are partial/full secondary builds still viable in 2020?

The only real difference between the two is the Tirpitz has torpedoes which are not a primary weapon.

I'm also considering the special commander for the Tirpitz with the enhanced +35% Vigilance to offset the lack of hydro, but this would force me to give up superintendent. My thought process is if I can avoid torpedoes this would offset the need for the extra heal I get with superintendent.

Thoughts anyone?

Tirpritz is a Scharnhorst but at t8 fitted with 8 15 inch guns in four dual turrets. The torpedoes work well in brawling, and te 15inchers pack a good punch to get citadels up close

tirp has 6 km torps...bismark seconds will beat the tirp torps ...stay out of the torp range disable the torp tubes and the bis will do well.. it all depends on the driver

Unless you know how to close the distance using islands and such, I would say go Bismarck. Sure the torps can save you a few times, but consider how many ships are packing torpedoes these days. Generally, it's not too safe to get that close to your enemy, and you might find yourself overextending just to use the torpedoes.

Also, the Tirpitz is no Odin. It's worth noting that, considering her age, players will be more likely to steer clear of you as they know you will be packing torpedoes. Also, due to the torpedo tube locations at the sides of the ship, the torpedo tubes are more likely to get knocked out in prolonged engagements. A Tirpitz without working torpedo tubes would be very sad indeed.

My advice is if you are grinding the German BB line then you should go Bismarck. Buy Tirpitz for real money later if you think you will enjoy it more. Even without the Black Friday deal, you can always use a 25% off doubloon cost coupon in the armory.

FullMetal _Inferno gives good advice.
Still, for pure fun and ignoring the cost, I'd take the Tirpitz.

It's not necessarily the stronger ship (I think one could argue both ways and be right).
I haven't seen a lot of brawling combat in Random battles, but when things do get hot and heavy, whipping out those torpedoes just puts a grin on my face.
In Co-op battles, I think Tirpitz is the Brute Squad and leaves Bismarck for dead. It's a hoot.

They have the same secondaries.

My personal opinion, between the two ships, I do slightly better in Bismarck, but enjoy Tirpitz more. Bismarck is much more of a generalist and team player, the hydroacoustic search is real handy, while the Torps on the Tirpitz make it a brutal close quarters specialist. Being able to melt a destroyer with secondaries, while slinging torps into someone getting too friendly (or even two if they're coming down both sides), and hitting yet another target with the main battery is always hilarious.

You can fire some large HE shells towards Tirpitz's center superstructure area and knock out and even destroy her Torpedo Launchers.

It's always been in a vulnerable area to be wrecked.

Bismarck's benefits of Hydro will never be taken away except by WG nerfing it or something.  You can spam Bismarck all you want, she'll have her Hydro.

I have both, use the Tirpitz as a secondary build with a secondary CPT, I use SGM1, being able to turn is nice in a brawl. The Bismarck as a standard BB build. Bismarck get his own CPT, survivable build.

Unfortunately, the Bismarck secondaries are bugged and the rear 105mm turrets don't fire over top of the 150mm mount below it. This means that the only time all of your secondaries are actually firing is when you're flat broadside to your target. To add to it, the firing angles aren't that great to begin with, and Bismarck secondaries end up being a let down because they just can't get on target like other ships can.

Tirpitz doesn't have this bug, and it's firing angles are pretty good, so you'll get a lot more out of the secondaries than you would with the Bismarck.
