Just a word to the wise, please read below.

 

Hello Iron_Clad_5000, 

Thank you for contacting us.

The mission provides the owners of "standard" ships earn some extra doubloons for receiving the "black" versions of these ships, please note the following news:
Special Combat Mission

Until January 31, 2021, y

 

You can complete the special combat mission for each ship playing the standard (not black) version of each black ship.

Five victories in Random, Ranked, or Co-op battles will bring you:

• If you play IX Jean Bart—25,000 Coal and 2,500 doubloons.
• If you play IX Alaska—100,000 Free XP and 2,500 doubloons.
• If you play VIII Cossack, VIII Kaga, VII Atlanta, VIII Atago, VIII Asashio, VIII Graf Zeppelin, VIII Massachusetts, VIII Tirpitz, or VII Scharnhorst—2,500 doubloons for each ship.
• If you play VII Sims—1,500 doubloons.

During the current Black Friday event, you can obtain the combat mission for each ship only once per account. The combat mission is allocated to your account when you purchase a black ship, obtain her from a container, or receive a compensation for her during Black Friday 2020.

Please note: you'll receive the combat mission even if, at the moment when you get a black ship, you don't have the standard version of this ship that's required to complete the mission. You can complete the combat mission by purchasing the necessary ship and winning the required number of battles playing this ship before January 31, 2021.

The just of it is that the Black ship that you buy cannot be used to complete the doubloon mission attached to it. Wish I had known this before my purchase, but at least now you do.

It's not a trick, it's WG's method of throwing a bone to people that already have the normal version of a premium ship so they can at least get a bit out of it. If it didn't exist then people that got duplicate ships would complain. You can't appease everyone.

Feel free to be critical of WG's choices in terms of marketing and selling in general; I wholeheartedly agree. 

But in that case and considering it's clearly mentioned in the purchase page, it's the buyer's responsibility.

I'm not trying to be contrary but the ad clearly states what you're buying. The fact that so many people are complaining that they didn't bother to read the ad is shocking. This is one of the few situations where I actually agree with War Gaming, which is also shocking.

Gosh, I wonder why WG repeatedly offers packages that constantly confuse people in a way that nets more cash for WG. I guess we'll never know.

Its not a trick.   The black ships are identical to the originals -- but at a nicely reduced price.    In the case of the JBB, not only are you getting a great price, you're getting a ship that is no longer available.

The issue for WeeGee is how can they generate sales to people who already have the originals and really dont need a second copy.   They decided to issue a 'rebate' in the form of a mission to offer some extras as a carrot to the folks who have the regular premiums..

This is the third year of the Black Friday ships and the associated doubloon missions.  Nothing has changed since inception.

Russian company.   Differences in customs, norms, and practices across cultures can be problematic.

And to mitigate that factor, they're supposed to hire people who will bring the necessary knowledge to the table so that local customs (and laws) can be handled appropriately.  At least, that is the *theory*.

It is a means for one player to own two versions of the same ship, something we cannot do otherwise. 

If also puts an item of desire - black camo - behind a virtual "pay wall" thus earning far more money than a mere permanent black camo could earn; after all, you are purchasing an entire ship, not just a camo.

Sometimes when dealing with this company you must really think about something before making a move.

Probably why there was a change in NA personnel right after the PR event last year.  I'm betting WeeGee is pretty cheap and doesnt pay much, so they get what they deserve.

At least one person who complained stated plainly that they did not read anything and bought it immediately expecting a mission for doubloons.  Ir makes zero sense that they would sell a ship at a discounted rate and then give you more doubloons making it even cheaper...

In my opinion, it is beholden upon the community to speak out when something like this rears its head and not condone it. If you want change you can't hide you head in the sand.

They always say thousands too...But its only ever a few who complain. If thousands were really getting confused by this id expect far more threads.
