It would also be nice if Fighters could strafe Destroyers. Destroyers are all but immune to aircraft right now, due to their maneuverability, yet aircraft accounted for many destroyer kills during WWII. Strafing should be dangerous, but would give players something to do with their fighters if the enemy carriers and/or aircraft are destroyed.

That would also give someone who has a fighter heavy loadout an option other than scouting if they get placed against a team with no carrier.      I imagine that the damage would have to be minimal for balances sake.    Something like 6+ FULL ammo loadout runs if they get lucky with fire.   Or there could be a non HP damage option where it disables modules only but doesn't affect health or barely does.

That actually sounds like a great idea. Module/Eng/Fire dmg or some flooding. Torpedo hits are not gonna happen with that speed, and minor bomb dmg. and fire if your lucky. Might as well make fighters a bit more useful.

Fighters would take down AA mounts during WW2. But for balance, I think it's best they just attack aircraft or scout. Instead, buff DB damage.

Carriers need some way to hit a Destroyer though even if it's just for light damage or to cause a fire. As things are right now it's a waste of time to use anything but a DB against a Destroyer.

Maybe Strafe, to give Debuff on AA effetiveness for ships.

I was thinking about the same thing, I do believe Fighters should be able to inflict some kind of damage to BOTH Destroyers and some Cruisers.Just keep it low and with maybe one or two charges before then have to refit at the CV.

Yeah exactly, IRL (if everything went according to plan) the fighters would strafe first to supress AA/engage enemy fighters, then the DBs would go in to bomb and to draw off any remaining fighters (as they were more survivable against fighters than TBs), and finally the slow, lumbering TBs went in for the kill.

Perhaps a time period of lower effectiveness after a strafing run? Maybe even a chance of knocking out a few AA guns? This should actually apply to all classes, not just DDs and CAs though, as Taffy three pilots made a mess of the AA guns on some IJN BBs.
