So what are we doing behind this rock in the corner of the map?

Well....

Sinking a Smalland.

And sinking a Conqueror.

And sinking a Yamato.

And sinking a Des Moines.

So maybe next time ping a little less and look at the situation a little more.

How did the scoreboard look like?

But OMG they were capping B! While two of us were sinking a third of their team by just sitting still.

No, I meant the scoreboard at the end of the game - how did everyone place? That's usually the best place to look if one wants to gauge their performance and contribution relative to  teammates. You can have a horrible 50k damage game, but still end up top because everyone did worse, or you could have farmed 100k+ damage but not end up on top because your teammates did something more valuable to winning the game.

Gotcha. I was third and the other guy was first. The "pinger" was only concerned with where we were -- he didn't bother to look 10 km away from us at the four ships that had us trapped where we were. If we had tried to run up to "Defend B" as we were being told to do, those four would have taken C and then had us in a crossfire with the cappers of B because they would gave been behind us. I guess what I'm getting at is that you need to take a look around before you start pinging an ally because you think he is out of position.

Seems pretty reasonable. But don't worry, lots of games go this way because there's a lot of things to take in at once in games.

If you do your thing and it works out, that's all that matters really.

Using island cover and line of sight is a perfectly good strategy in this game.

Unfortunately, frustration arises in many players who see people full on hiding behind islands and not contributing far too often. I'm sure we've all seen matches where half the time, at full health, is cowering behind islands while the rest of the team is getting focused down hard by the entire enemy team because they are the only ones visible. Or refusing to push despite all caps going red.

Cruisers behind islands is perfectly fine. Low health BBs behind islands so they can recover some health is perfectly fine. A bunch of full health battleships hiding behind islands while their cruiser buddies are under heavy fire most certainly is not.
