Cuz low tiers are atrocious. Incredibly boring and with low population to make it even worse. These awful tiers are the main reason I think 10 times before starting a new line.

Some lines don't reach tier 6 though. And anyways I disagree with you.

Well...in Tanks they used to give you a coupon to skip to Tier 6. No idea if they still do it....Maybe its a good idea?

No.

It isn’t.

Playing through the line teaches you how to PLAY the line.

But maybe I’m just a WoWs geezer (09/2015) who doesn’t understand the ‘gotta do everything fast’ mentality.

Okay, but after a point, it just becomes yet ANOTHER grind. Why put yourself through that? Not saying your wrong, but I have to ask: "Why?"

I mean Ive skipped to tier 5 in just about every line after the first 3 i did just because i had the free exp laying around, doesnt seem that hard to get free exp in this game, compared to WOT.

Outside not wasting fxp, and building up your reserves of credits and fxp?

I play how I care to now because I’ve (mostly) never skipped anything. Every ship always gets at least 5 PvP and 5 PvE games, which is often enough to proceed to the next tier up to tier 5.

Playing all those lower tier game means I’ve never wanted for credits and fxp like some have complained about; literally to the point I don’t care if I lose credits in a high tier game, (I usually don’t anyway.)

I think I’ve skipped more high tier ships than low tier ships, in order to get anniversary and x-flake Tier 10 items. Even then, most of the ships I skipped have since been given my 5+5 treatment, if I haven’t actually played them more.

Having all the fxp and credits I had during my last great splurge meant about 225mil credits and 2.3mil fxp spent, and I didn’t care.

I like low-tier game play.
People try all sorts of stuff.  Some of it even works.  :-)

The basics of how to play well are developed in the low tiers.
Aiming one's guns.  Setting-up a torpedo attack.  Evasive maneuvers and angling to reduce one's target profile and best utilize a ship's available armor.  Gaining positional advantages, and etc.

Ive never converted FXP and have had enough to skip every line to 5 or 6, as well as grabbin Alaska , Agïr and Nelson.

Similar for me, I always start at T5, but I don't have Alaska lol.

People skipping straight to five or six is why most players suck.

Depends.

If you've already been up a couple or so lines, it's fine. You already (supposedly anyway) have a clue how to play, it's just a matter of tuning your gameplay to the new "flavor".

But yeah, first couple times, you should start at the bottom and play your way up, especially if you do a new ship type.

I enjoy lower tiers quite a lot. I wish the daily missions included lower than tier 5.

If someone doesn't enjoy them, then yeah, I guess you'd want to skip them. That's cool. Play what you like. Those of us who don't enjoy exactly the same things you enjoy, well, we're playing too.

Have you ever thought, that maybe the low population is a result of you not wanting to play low tiers? If we allow people to skip low tiers, why even have low tiers at all? Just remove them and make the game only have 6 tiers (5,6,7,8,9,10).

No. WG should not let people skip low tier. If they want to encourage new people to play, they need to increase the population at low tier, because at the moment, it is pretty unplayable for a newbie.

Also do we really want to encourage bad players to be able to get up to higher tiers quicker>?

Low tier ships aren't fun?

*Gazes at Albany, St. Louis, Charleston, Smith, Wickes, Clemson, Campbeltown, Exeter, Agincourt, Tachibana, Mikasa, Emden, G-101, V-170, Okhotnik, Friant, Duguay-Trouin, Emile Bertin, Genova...*

I must be weird. A lot of low tier ships are stinkers, sure, but some of them are fun stinkers, and anyway there are just as many trash-barges at higher tiers. A lot of my low tier ships I only got rid of because I ran out of port slots. I really wish that WG would make at least the daily mission chain available below Tier 5; I'd gleefully spend whole days farting around brawling with Tier 3 casemate-porcupine cruisers if I could do missions with them.

The big issue is that you can't do ANY missions with ships under T5... Also the new player experience is kinda junk. The 'protected MM' mode is actually worse than random, since they buffed the bots, to the point where many low tier Cruisers and ESPECIALLY DDs are almost unplayable.

yeah opening up missions to t3 and t4 would ensure those levels where populated. by time I finish my missions for the day I'm done, I don't have time to do some low level stuff for fun

I read the OP with the context of Research Bureau and resetting lines in mind, not for new players on their first run thru.

In that context I support a speedy option, but that kind of defeats the purpose. I think WeeGee wants more low tier players. Wait times suck and even after waiting 5 minutes, we get bots. This is the key for why I don’t play many T1-5 matches. I love the looks of older ships.

The other things that IMHO would help low tier play is to lose T4 CVs (make them every tier 6-10 since they will never just “go away”), and to have missions and operations for lower tiers too.

We do have one campaign that I think requires you to play Tier 2 ships.

Best game play is in low tiers.  Wish they had T1 "twink" contests. Or T2 so we could bring DDs...the Smith and the Tachibana are absolute blasts to play.

I personally think the absolute most fun here is T4, well rounded ships, fast and furious...but sadly, most of the missions are T5 and above.
