Come join @KARMAT1KA and I on the official World of Warships Twitch channel Friday (23rd October) from 1700 (5pm central) to 1900 (7pm central).

We are doing this stream in between the US Navy's Birthday and the US Navy Day to celebrate the US Navy!

We'll be talking historical events, we'll be asking US Navy trivia and we'll be showing some images from the Unites States Naval Institute going over historical events throughout the US Navy's history!

We may or may not be giving away publications from USNI for participation in the trivia questions!

After releasing Alaska and Anchorage, hope WoWS is considering bring The USS Honolulu (CL-48) to the game too.   With the Hawaii flag would be a nice touch.

I would love a USS Honolulu, for my 8th birthday i went to Pearl Harbor and i met one of the crew of the Honolulu how was onboard during the attack. I heard he died about 10+ years ago. I got the Boise because same class (Brooklyn) as Honolulu, but i would still pay for Honolulu, preferably in Pearl Harbor configuration.

if i remember correctly Wargaming said they would not be adding Frigates, Sloops, Corvettes, Minelayers and other small ships since they have a rather limited main battery and they'd be the most vulnerable ships in the game to surface attack and heaven forbid they get spotted by aircraft.

A great opportunity to to give the (USN) Veterans a little extra something!  You know, a little something extra besides a flag and T 2 Cruiser w/ camouflage .

I am glad to see the inclusion of the PBY Catalina as part of the Submarine patch, they were some of the true work horses of ASW, and for all who hate CV's, Subs are the counter balance that will keep things in check.

As a U.S. Navy veteran of ASW,   VP-16    WOW's is getting things more all round, and while there will always be those that are not happy with this or that, most of us enjoy the game for what we have to work with and know that as time goes on things will get better.

I wish to take this opportunity to advise all of my future targets that is is nothing personal, my job is to sink you and my fish will introduce themselves in a very sudden direct way.

Yeah, they also said way back when that they would never add submarines either, yet here we are.

Another feature would be to see if higher tier submarines take advantage of electric powered torpedoes.. so instead of the feather trail of bubbles put off by steam powered torpedoes, they would effectively have no trail behind them and be harder to spot.

Not holding my breath for that.  Though it would be nice to have something as simple as The Navy Hymn playing in port or in battle.

Oh yeah? During playtime we used to be ordered to sing, bang TDU weights against the hull, and blast Metallica on the 1MC so y'all could find us... lol... 

As a US Navy SSN Vet, I say "touche" my Orion flying brother... we may have actually sparred in our real Navy days down in Roosie Roads or Bermuda.

My boat was assigned to SUBRON 2 out of Rotten Groten, so we spent a lot of time training down there getting worked up and qualified for deployments. My boat has long since been shitcanned and turned into radioactive razor blades, and SUBRON 2 was decommisioned in 2012, but VP-16 is still going strong. 

Orions and other flying bang-bang crappers were one of the few things other than crush depth that could make us crapour skivvies, as the WoW Uboat skippers will find out soon enough... Sucks for them... i'm gonna be sticking to my battlewagon...

Why?

frigates would be a class of ships dedicated to ASW.

A ship class in which EVERY other mission is secondary.

It would be reasonable and would make sense.

It would be something players would embrace wholly.

These are reasons why WG will not do anything even close to it.

Since I do NOT want to see submarines added (unless it's a special OPT-IN game mode, which I would not play but at least I would be unaffected by it), I would NOT embrace adding in frigates. I don't think it would be a very enjoyable experience of playing in a match using a frigate trying to do the anti-DD activities while dodging the fire from the other heavier ships.

37 years ago today 10/23/ 83 in Beirut Lebanon we lost 230 Marines 9 Navy and 3 army. 

Never forget.

Shortly after we had the USS New Jersey unloading her 16-in guns on selected positions around Beirut Lebanon, seeing that firsthand was impressive.

Prior to that I spent a half a day on the New Jersey, we got a personal tour of the ship, and seeing the thickness of the hatches was incredible. I believe they were 22-in thick I could be wrong but it was like a bank vault and the thing that stuck with me is the Commander gave the orders "sweepers man your brooms"  when S**t hit the fan.

I don't know why you'd want frigates. They're smaller and slower than destroyers. In WWII, the United States had a type of ship known as "Destroyer Escorts" while the British has a very similar type of ship but called them "Frigates" instead. Kind of like how the US Navy used the term "Large Cruisers" for Battlecruisers while the British still used Battlecruiser.

In that type of thinking, we'd have smaller ships with smaller HP pools and slower than current DD's as quite a few DE's/Frigates tended only to go 20 knots. With only a tiny handful going up to 24 knots. Yeah, we can do without DE's/Frigates. Also, due to their small size, their armament would be downright pathetic. Just look at one of the more infamous DE's/Frigates, the USS Samuel B. Roberts DE-413, that was apart of Taffy 3. She only had two 127mm guns and a single triple 533mm torpedo launcher.
