Has there been a King of the Sea Tournament with CVs?

Since I started giving some attention to KotS, all battles I've seen so far happened without a CV.

The ships chosen and the play styles are usually predictable. Even the maps.

But why no aircraft carriers?

Is KotS run outside WG?

If so, then the answer is easy.

Whether it is run by WG or not, I think the question still remains.

Why exactly are there no CVs in KotS? Can you clarify?

Its actually rare for KOTS to be without CVs.  The rework has not been popular with the competitive environment for numerous reasons such as CVs plane regen and HP being balanced around 12v12 in an environment that often is 9v9 or less.

There has been voting before each KOTS tournament to decide if carriers should participate or not.  The recent voting, as far as I've seen, has been heavily against including CVs.

Because the organizers running the tournament (and a lot of the players in the higher teams) don't want CVs in KotS. The spotting, the plane regen, hp and AA being balanced around 12v12 teams whereas KotS is typically 9v9 at most, among other reasons. Before the rework there were seasons that included them, and the first season post rework did as well before the organizers decided to not allow CVs.

CVs have been present in the Majority of KoTs tournaments.  As others have mentioned Pre and Post rework. They have not been included in the most recent tournaments for multiple reasons.

Just to name some.

CVs are balanced for 12 v 12 not smaller numbers.  CVs create a stale meta due to their oppressive spotting.  They are presence which heavily favors setting up campers  and bunching up. Along with using Venezias as the only flankers which can escape the CV through smoke and act at looong ranges.   Last CB season was down to CV Stalingrad Venezia.

Even WG employees have admitted on video that KoTs is far more dynamic without CVs.  After the last T10 season WG also admitted that CVs did not fit into T10 CBs and they were chocking out the Meta.

Yeah, they used to be a mainstay in all teams. Before the rework. Spotting mostly, though some damage too. It was interesting, you'd have your BBs always paired up with an AA cruiser, and often someone would be escorting the CV too. Though teams were bigger then, I think some even had 12 v 12.

They stopped when the rework hit, to allow things to be rebalanced. And they haven't returned. Because in the current state they just make things boring. And since KOTS is not a WG event (organized by players, though WG is of course heavily involved with rewards and promotions) they can make whatever rules they want.

The NA KOTS is even more extreme, not only are CVs banned across the board, but I think there are a few other ships as well, and they have a banned ship system where teams can choose a ship to be banned.

KOTS lineups are usually a good way to see what the current meta is. Competitive takes it to extremes definitely, but something like the total switch from Henri to Russian cruisers is indicative for sure.

The first few KOTS seem so long ago, no spectator mode so casters had to load in T1 ships and get killed immediately. WG was still trying to figure out production, so camera view was often out of sync with what was going on. RTS CVs ruled, every BB was group up with a cruiser and smoke, and teams spent most of the game shooting from smoke because smoke gun bloom wasn't a thing. Games often swung on a DD getting a surprise torp spread into a smoke with 3 ships. The game has changed a lot in my 4 years...

Yeah, the first tourney that had them was a one day war games Swiss tourney a out 2 weeks after the rework. It was basically to see how they would work in the format. We had pulicat as our CV and I think gaishu wasn't playing that tourney, and we won against CUTER in the finals. The next kots had them and they were voted out by the player base after that one.

Yup. All seasons prior to the rework included CVs. Post-rework only 2 had them before they were kicked out by the organizers for being broken.

Behold, AA that actually works:

(skip to 12:19 if timestamp doesn't work)

Good?

As much as I like, or perhaps, ‘liked’ carriers, after the rework, they can go to hell, as far as I’m concerned.
