It makes no sense that the new battleships should get the consumable, and not the existing ones that purposefully were designed to have very strong AA defenses. I think that if the new line gets DFAA and the other doesn't, it will just powercreep the existing line even further. If you have to give it to one line, give it to the fast battleship line.

The new, slow line will generally be alone and have trouble dodging. It needs AA on that level. The fast line is fine at eating planes without it.

Maybe against potato pilots, but good CV pilots know how to dodge flak and wait for DefAA/cat fighters to time out. The way it works, no amount of AA can stop, or even inconvenience, a competent CV.

Might as well give them dfaa fire not like it does anything significant to attacks by CV planes.

I wasn't talking about the flak, really. Flak is rarely a big deal. Higher continuous damage means you can't linger as long, and may well get off one less attack or be forced to attack one last time but with a less optimal spread, etc.

That said, that def AA often invalidates one's heal by super charging the flak you might otherwise be able to heal tank is also an aspect that makes me like def AA when on the sea end. It's lovely against torpedo bombers as such. Makes torp bombers a tad higher risk.
