Why is radar nerfed in upcoming Clan Battles?

Global Wiki: Cyclones "A ship's spotting range is reduced in increments to 8 kilometers."

Dev Blog on CB season 11: "On the 4th minute of battle, the viewing range of all ships begins to decrease and after 30 seconds it reduces to 14 km".

So, all the 8-12km radar on T10 ships is rendered near useless in a 14km cyclone environment, where they have great use in the 8km cyclone environment. In an 8km cyclone battlespace, radar can be used to find those cyclone-hidden ships in the 8-12km radar detection range. In a 14km cyclone battlespace, radar is not necessarily needed to find those ships in the 8-12km detection range if those ships are in visual detection range.

It seems they are trying to limit the effects of CVs in CBs. Though it limits plane viewing range to 8km, once a DD is detected things change: in the 8km battlespace, once spotted a DD would be visual only to the spotter and only appear on the MINI MAP to other enemy ships outside 8km. In the 14km battlespace, once detected that DD will now be SEEN by enemy ships other than the spotter an additional 6km.

If you want to limit the effect of CVs either remove them from CBs, or set the MM to match CV team with CV team.

Nowhere does it say radar spotting is being reduced. Just regular spotting

You might want to edit your post and copy & paste the text out into text pad and put it back. Currently it is light grey text on a white background.

Also, I'm pretty sure Ducky_shot is correct about how radar works with the reduced visibility... so I think it is actually a buff in that it makes the radar spotting that much more valuable.

8km cyclones are usually most disadvantageous to DDs. This 14km cyclone design appears to be implemented to prevent DDs from being so adversely affected in a team environment, and extend combat range to mid-range rather than almost purely close range.

Where in there do you get anything about radar?

There is no nerf to radar.

by introducing cyclones in clan battles, WG attempts to balance CV spotting but in the process, destroys the playing experience of surface ships. mostly DD's and cruisers. Battleships become quite strong in cyclones, DDs get radared as soon as they spot an enemy ship, so good luck getting out alive from that, and cruisers always run the risk of being devstruck by BBs but in this case its from 8km so higher probability of getting blapped. And as usual, planes dont give a ducks crap about spotting nerf as the CV player knows where the ships and it can easily fly planes over and keep pummeling surface ships
