Used to hang out in Port Burwell during the summer months. They spent a lot of money to get the sub ready, get it there & parked.

We scrapped a beautiful warship 5-6 years ago, HMCS Fraser, that was built in Canada, served her country for 37 years, and had a hell of a lot more historical importance to Canada and the RCN than the HMCS Ojibwa ever had, and no one batted an eye, even though it was proven to be cheaper to preserve her as a museum ship rather than scrap her. Now there fighting to preserving a sub that wasn't even built on our home soil, and didn't really have a historically significant career, I just don't see the logic of it. Dont recall correctly, but some of Das Boot was filmed on either it or one of the others. Served on HMCS Saguenay in the early 80's.
