I noticed the port side armor belt is thicker than starboard. Is this intentional?

Interesting, would be a different twist on avoiding the ballasting issues that the Lexington and Saratoga had post conversion.

Of course, the real answer is to widen the flight deck and offset it to port because you can never have too much deck space on a carrier.

As said above, it's likely to offset the weight of the super structure being on one side of the ship.

I don't build ships, so it's just a guess.
