We never EVER have asked for something like this...SIGH

https://blog.worldofwarships.com/blog/75

ST, HYBRIDS

Please note that all information in the development blog is preliminary and subject to change during testing. Any showcased features may or may not end up on the main server. The final information will be published on our game's website.

In the near future, a new group of battleships and cruisers will be tested - hybrids. Their main feature is the ability to launch a squadron of planes. Launching and controlling them is done the same way as with aircraft carriers: by pressing a separate button. After launch, control is fully transferred to the squadron, and the ship may be controlled with autopilot. Hybrids won't have automatically activated consumables.

Testing will be done with two ships, carrying torpedo bombers:

  • Japanese Tier VIII cruiser Tone;
  • Japanese Tier VI battleship Ise.

Detailed parameters of the ships will be published before they are added to the game, granted a successful test is conducted.

This could be workable if the planes can be controlled in an RTS style instead of 3rd person view. The planes would execute their planned commands while the player focuses on gunnery. Otherwise, it would be too overwhelming for the player to manage both gunnery and flying.

Probably the third most requested thing on the forums, right under subs and removed CV's. Unlike subs and remove CV's, it's had some very rational, intelligent discussion on the topic as well.

Whoop-dee-do. A CA and a BB with gimped main batteries and one small squad of torpedo planes (which neither ever carried).

Boring. :cap_yes:

If you mean the royal "we", then sure.

Otherwise, you're flat out wrong.

I think maybe WG figures people hiding behind islands need something to do while they wait lol.

I'd like to thank Wargaming for "losing their minds".

The way to handle "hybrids" is to give them the ability to launch multiple squadrons of catapult aircraft at once, so they can have spotter, fighter, and hopefully "scout bombers" up at the same time.

Not this "you lose control of your ship" nonsense.

I don't know what rock you've been under, but Tone is the most requested ship I've seen on the forums. There are quite a few people losing their crapright now.

Yeah, I've never understood WHY so many people want it so much, though I'm pretty sure it has little to do with gameplay or history....

They started with..in the near future...

I see hybrids in title and immediately think Cylon Base Star.

*Wonders how players will handle the new CV rework with Cylon CVs.
