I waited for eternity there for a closed-beta key but am not getting any luck. I was browsing the eBay and there are keys for sale. Are these legit key? I understand WG distributes keys to streamers and the streamers distribute the keys further. I am just wondering if there are restriction for the streamers to sell the keys on eBay? are they free to do so? I just don't want to active this key and later get into trouble as I do play world of tanks a lot.

I attached a picture for you guys' review. It shows it is the last one, but I am quite sure it is just the way they are doing things which they will post another last-one product on eBay when this one is sold.

So should I go for it? so confused. HELP! :izmena:

P.S. The price is so high....nearly 200 EUR

holy crap that's a little over 200 us dollars.

As for it being a legit key it could be but Im not sure of the legality of it.    There was another guy on here that said his friend bought one and it worked.  There is no way Id pay that much just to test a game.

Don't buy it. Report him to WG and eBay. He was supposed to give them out for free in a stream.

I could report him on eBay...There is the link.

But how could I report him to WG? all he shows is an eBay account, and you don't know what the key is until you send over 200 dollars... If WG wants to pay him 200 dollars and back track the origin of the key, WG can do that:trollface:

Aside from the "wrongness" of this guy selling beta keys, bro, $200 to play a game?  $200 to TEST a game?  I get that it is your money, I have spent PLENTY on WoT, but $200 just to play? Wow.  That guy is making out like a freaking bandit.

I think they are legit, first he had like 3 or 4 of them left now he has 1, so im guessing they do work, but like i said on my other post people aren't gonna give out the keys for free they gonna make money of it someway or another.

They should just give out more keys if they don't want people selling them.

First, what person in their right mind would pay to test something?  Second, what sort of amoral, lack of ethics having person would ratchet the price of a beta key up to five times the costs of a brand new game?  Third, why did WG decide to get all silly with the key distribution process?  Loss of absolute control of the process is never a good thing...

That being said.  I wouldn't buy a key for $2, much less 200+.  I don't know if it is permitted or not, but I rather suspect that selling a key is not permitted by WG policy.

I know it is not permitted on ebay...

"Policy overview

Certain types of software—including academic, beta, and OEM software—aren't allowed on eBay, or certain restrictions apply when listing them, as described below.

Make sure your listing follows these guidelines. If it doesn't, it may be removed, and you may be subject to a range of other actions, including limits of your buying and selling privileges and suspension of your account."

The reason they get away with it on ebay is because they are not directly selling a key.   They are charging you for the time they put into acquiring the key.    Sneaky and underhanded as it is, there is a disclaimer.

                                                                    please note:
All the content that is offered for sale here is the intellectual property of the game publisher.
I make no claim to the ownership of the virtual objects traded here. The buyer pays only for the time and work that has been applied in order to achieve the score of the characters.
Therefore, the account, the characters and the objects themselves remain the property of the
game publisher!

Meaning that your paying for this sellers time it took to get the key and email it to you.  :sceptic:

Truly, this seller is a professional and proficient in the rules of regulation! :P

I now fear nothing can be done from either WG and eBay... I should just forget about this event and ... do something else.

They need to get this stuff under control. They are being sold on ebay and the game hasn't even been released yet.

Heading out, so this will be a quick response.

That sort of disclaimer has to be placed on any account for an mmo because the player does not own the characters legally.  However, a beta key is not an account nor a character.  The link takes you to the page that includes that "disclaimer" (that may or may not stand up in a court if things ever went that far).  However the page also states clearly:

"Here you can buy:

World of Warships - closed Beta US / NA Key

fast delivery via Ebay-Message or Skype/ICQ after you bought the key
if you have any question, you can contact me via Skype or ICQ or via Ebay-Message"

So there is certainly a prima facie claim that it is an attempt to directly sell a key, contrary to the policies established by ebay.  Now I am off to shop for Easter lunch, got lots of prep work to do.

How idiotic can anyone be to pay for a beta tester key? Would you pay your employer for your job? Do street sweepers pay to be able to sweep? Do you pay your mum the privilege of cleaning your own room?

They should've given keys to more trustworthy people, such as the alpha and weekend beta testers. Instead they give them to any chump who can livestream. Either way, don't buy them, you'll be wasting your money.

Be patient and don't buy that key.  Eventually they will accept more beta testers or go to the open beta and you'll get in.

Money is a relative thing. Some people have more than others and $200 might be a meaningless sum. Way back a couple friends and I had an eBay store selling Diablo II items, some very rare stuff would go for over $100 easily and quickly.

totally agree. I can't remember how much money I spent on games, especially those "free-to-play" games.

A lot of people pay to test games...look at Star Citizen...they have collected around 9 million dollars from people who are testing...same with elite dangerous...that was $75 for beta access..

I would for sure pay $2 to get beta access

If money is a relative thing, why don't I have relatives like that who would like to give me some of that relative money?  Why?  Why???
