World of Warships Anniversary

With the release of Update 0.9.8, World of Warships passes the threshold of its fifth year!

This time, the festive frenzy is inspired by naval history. The game will feature plenty of new and engaging content to mark the occasion, including a revamped Designer's Table Port, a permanent campaign titled "Five Epochs of the Navy" plus a collection of the same name, a new Dockyard, and fresh first-win bonuses. You can also try out a new battle type—Asymmetric Battle!

The collection and new permanent campaign are both dedicated to the history of shipbuilding.

The Five Epochs of the Navy permanent campaign features 50 tasks spread across 5 missions.

Reward for completing the campaign: an Epoch permanent camouflage, which can be applied to the majority of Tier IX ships.

The Five Epochs of the Navy collection is made up of five sections, with six elements in each. Each section is dedicated to a specific era in the history of shipbuilding. Elements of the collection can only be obtained from the same-name containers. The exchange rate of duplicates for missing elements is 1:1.

Five Epochs of the Navy containers will be available during the campaign of the same name. Each container will drop an element from the Five Epochs of the Navy collection, as well as other rewards.

Reward for completing the collection: an Epoch permanent camouflage, which can be applied to the majority of Tier IX ships.

Asymmetric Battle

1e357130-dbd9-11ea-a5ba-8cdcd4b147d4.pngDuring the first two festive weeks of the World of Warships Fifth Anniversary, you can try out a new temporary battle type—Asymmetric Battle—with a differing distribution of ships and tiers between teams.

Historically, encounters at sea have typically involved opposing sides with an unequal number of ships on each side. The new battle type offers a new gameplay experience in near-real naval combat conditions.

In an Asymmetric Battle, a team of four to six Tier VII–VIII ships will confront a team of eight to twelve ships of Tiers V–VI. Helming Tier VII–VIII ships in an Asymmetric Battle will require a new temporary resource called Battle Tokens.

Battle Tokens can be obtained by participating in Asymmetric Battles. The number of Tokens you get from each battle depends on the tier of ship you helm—the lower the tier, the more Tokens you can get.

This way, you'll be able to participate in an Asymmetric Battle with lower and higher-tier ships for a more immersive experience in the new battle type.

Dockyard

In Update 0.9.8, players will be able to build a new U.S. Tier VIII cruiser—flag_USA_dd9fc06d19a8638f4077ab2fe200d22premium_1114542bcd311c388080eea3a4d54a7eVIII Anchorage. The rules of the new Dockyard are in many ways similar to those applied to the Hamburg Dockyard, but the list of rewards for completing the shipbuilding phases has changed. For example, completing phase 12 will bring you 100,000 Free XP.

  • The construction process of the Dockyard comprises 20 phases.
  • Each shipbuilding phase can be completed by finishing the Directives of the event, or by spending 1,750 doubloons per phase.
  • Event Directives will span two updates—0.9.8 and 0.9.9, and the Dockyard itself will remain in your Ports until the end of Update 0.9.10.
  • In total, you can complete 18 out of 20 shipbuilding phases by finishing Directives.
  • Anchorage and her National camouflage, along with a 10-skill Commander, Port slot, and commemorative flag, await you upon completing the 20th phase.

If you decide to complete shipbuilding at the Dockyard by using doubloons, you can still progress through the Directives. However, in that case, instead of the usual rewards for completing the shipbuilding phases, you'll get 600 Research Points for each completed phase. If you have not yet opened the Research Bureau, you'll get access to it immediately with the first Research Points you earn.

Victory Bonuses

In Update 0.9.8, players will be able to receive a festive bonus for their first victory in the Update, secured on every ship starting from Tier V.

List of Rewards

  • Tiers V–VII: 2x World of Warships Anniversary camouflages
  • Tier VIII: 1x Gift container
  • Tier IX: 2x Gift containers
  • Tier X: 1x supercontainer

GIFT CONTAINER:

  • A Gift container holds five special signals of one type (Dragon, Red Dragon, Wyvern, Ouroboros, Hydra, Basilisk, Scylla, or Leviathan).

Ranked Battles

Update 0.9.8 kicks off a new Season of Ranked Battles. You can expect to play Tier X ships in an 8 vs. 8 format.


Other Changes

The visual display of fog in the game has been enhanced by adopting an updated spacial distribution system and adding a scattered sunlight effect. Apart from improving the visual component, this change will also provide a slight improvement in the game client's performance.

"Naval Legends" audio recordings have been added to the pool of in-battle soundtrack options.

We've had two phases of Summer Season that could be done in co-op, and that was good, because finding Randoms teams on the PTS can be a pain. And then...

And given the objective of testing Asymmetric Battles, I'm surprised they don't count.

Randoms instead of coop has several problems, not the least of which is, you are spreading the test population WAY to thin.

You need stuff in Tiers 2-4 tested, and 8-10, and also have a separate battle mode that has completely separate goals from all others.

PTS Issues and Feedback 

1. Everything that is for rewards on the live server should be done in ALL game modes on TEST. (I feel the same on Live as well but I know some hate seeing COOP people get anything).

2. Asymmetrical Battle - These are not real fun. These are just quick randoms tbh. Every match Ive played in it, the Low tiers won the match because they just focused down the other team, kinda like what happens in randos when ya CV is afk and the 2 DD's Yolo into Caps A and C. Rest of team is then outnumbered and just gets focused down in flames. Again, Not fun IMHO. 

3. If you do want people playing, The Directives and Epoch Campaigns need to be able to be completed in them as well, otherwise Its probably going to be a dead game mode (Im guessing Bots will fill in on the liver server as well, or else it may be disastrous)

4. I do like that the EPOCH campaigns started in the low tiers. Felt good having a legit reason to play those low tiers again.

5. Also, I feel that those Gift containers are a bit lackluster - At least give me a lightning strikes chance of some type of shipin them as well. Im sorry but flags dont excite me (even if they are the top teir flags). Coal/Steel and Ships excite me. Best event Ive played for win gifts on the first win was A french Event (If memory is correct). We got camo from the low tiers, coal for the mid tiers and no idea what the higher tier ships got (I didnt have any at the time). I realize these current prizes are in line with last years event but will add, Shouldnt each year the event get better? I mean this is the 5th Anniversary, that should be quite a shindig for a game such as this, however we get the same re-run party that year 4 had. GG MOM and DAD, great effort.

Feedback and suggestion for 【Asymmetric Battle】

Considering "offers a new gameplay experience in near-real naval combat conditions", I think:

1. The match making system can be done in a simpler way. Delete the restriction on ships types, only consider number of players in each team. So a few extreme exampls would be,  match of 8 T6 BB vs 4 T8 BB , match of 8 T6 DD vs 4 T8 CV, etc. After all, in real naval combat, you never know how many enemy ships, and what their types would be. That would be fun.

2. Offer more ways to get tokens for playing higher tire in 【Asymmetric Battle】 For instance, every player can get tokens from random battles, coop battles and rank battles from all tires starting from T1 to T10, although not as much compared to playing low tire ships in the new mode. The mode has potential, and you guys want more new players involved, right?

3. Increase exp gian for this new mode, like an additional 100% exp mission for playing it. After all, it is never wrong to make players happy by offering more exp gain.

4. For those who don't enjoy themselves in【Asymmetric Battle】, there should be an additional way for them to spend tokens. For example, tokens can be exchanged for camos, signals, and low tire tech-tree ships. In this idea, you are offering nearly nothing, but provide player happiness.

1. Quite like the fact that the Epoch campaign starts at low tiers, then slowly moves up to high tiers. Although this might promote some people with T3 and 4 premiums and/or T4 CVs sealclubbing, but hey, at least its nice to see below T5 get some attention.

2. Also like all Epoch missions are doable in co-op, that should please the co-op people.

So far the low tier ships are winning quite easily with the 2-1 odds. Ironically I'm seeing better "stick together" cohesion against top tier CV than happens in randoms.

Might raise it to 5v8.

I'm seeing a bug where consumables do not reliably activate.  Having difficulty getting a consistent repro, but I've seen it on multiple occasions at this point.

Well all would be nice if i could get in the PT sever after i down loaded 31 Gig the game wont start i have checked all the files 3 different time and they are all fine. So i turn off my antivirus program still no luck. any suggestion would be greatly appreciated

I played around about 8-10 battles of Asymmetric battles earlier in the day and I have to be honest that the experience, while interesting, isn't necessarily the most fun thing I've done in the game. The biggest issue I think is just the sheer numbers advantage that isn't compensated for by playing a higher tier ship.

I played roughly 4-5 games as a lower tier ship, and 2-3 games as a higher tier ship, and in all of those instances, the lower tier ships would always win out, either by using overwhelming numbers to swarm the higher tier ships, or alternatively kiting the higher tier ships in a way that they can't muster a proper response.

As for metas, 2-3 VII-VIII battleships tend to struggle against >3 DDs, or >5 cruisers regardless of tier. DDs can simply stay undetected and spam torpedoes until something eventually hits, and cruisers can kite very hard. Italian cruisers in particular seem to be very well-rounded ships that can counter almost anything; shredding destroyers and whittling away BBs with ease, be it lower or higher tier. 

As of right now, I have no idea what to suggest to fix this on my own. My lazy side tells me that adjusting of the higher tier ships from 4 to around 5 or 6 would probably alleviate that issue. Maybe matchmaking can be changed as well, so a battleship heavy high tier team, will face down a mostly battleship lower team. I'm not exactly a strategist so I just hope that someone can use my feedback to form a better opinion on how to fix the mode. Because once the initial gimmick of fighting a Vladivostok with a Mutsuki wears off, it's a boring affair for both teams.

Tirando o fato do teste público contemplar missões das temporadas de verão ABSURDAS, demoradas e desmotivantes, entrei só para ver o que tinha...

1. Iluminação muito desproporcional no porto do desenhista.

2. Bug na primeira partida cooperativa. ESC não funcionava para configurar parâmetros. Na segunda partida OK.

3. Término e saída da primeira partida cooperativa não completava. Reinício necessário Ctrl + Del. Na segunda partida já saiu normal.

4. Estaleiro não carregou de início. Reinício necessário Ctrl + Del.  Na segunda partida já saiu normal.

Pra mim deu...parei com o Teste público.

É desmotivante perder muito tempo com isso em detrimento da conta principal.

Já está difícil manter o game ativo no servidor principal e o teste público demanda um final de semana inteiro para se cumprir jogando razoavelmente muito...difícil assim!

Melhorem as condições de bônus no servidor principal e tempo de jogo do teste público, pois está péssimo assim.

Outra coisa...me agrada o conceito do estaleiro...pois presenteia quem faz as missões por um longo período, é fiel ao jogo, possui opções randômicas e coop (EXcelente - deviam propor este método para campanhas também), mas ter que gastar 3500 dobrões ao final para se concluir e ter o navio, aí já não concordo.

Poderia ser uma fração de carvão por exemplo, que é ganho também com fidelidade ao jogo (20% por exemplo do que se tem navios no arsenal)

Mas com cash eu sou contra!!!

Vou deixar de fazer também.

So far, I see a higher Ping rate (more than double) than the live Server (NA).

Consumables don't always activate... sometimes have to hit the button more than once.

PT crashed on me twice mid-game.

Not sure if it's a bug so I won't post it in the bug thread.

Performance in the dockyard is really bad. I don't remember specifically my framerate for the Odin dockyard, but I feel I would've noticed if it felt this bad.

In game and in port, my FPS is pinned to the 75 FPS cap, and could probably go higher.

In the Anchorage dockyard I hover between 50-60 FPS. I don't have FPS monitoring software, I just use Nvidia's overlay so I don't have frametime data, but I suspect those are abnormally high as I can play other games at those framerates and it still feels okay, but here it feels noticeably stuttery.

GPU is a 1060 mobile (non max Q) running Nvidia driver version 445.75.

Hi im leaving feedback for the new mode asymmetric battle. I've run into a lot of people who have disliked the mode while I however think its ok...To me it could use sum improvement.

Id recommend making it a bit more interesting such as having the 4 ship time escorting a convoy away and stalling time and turn it into more of a survive the longest you can for points.

Because as it stands right now, atleast for the 4 ship team, It seems a little bland for a new mode.

I have had the opposite experience everyone here seems to be having in Asymmetric battles. Each time I have been in the lower tier side I have lost.  Personally not finding it fun compared to the other modes /shrug.

As to Asymmetric Battles, having two T8 carriers will not work at all.  I have played only about 5 games so far and have even lost in t5-6 ships that didn't work together. But I think as of this moment, that there needs to be an increase in the number of T7-8  ships by at least 1 or two.  Maybe 10 vs 6?

Asymetrical Battles only giving 20 Tokens to the Tier VIII teams is WRONG.  No way is that effort and the reduced XP are FAIR.
