Perth, fun in Killer Whale

A recent super container with doubloons, and coupon gave my enough to pick up the Perth.  I was surprised how well this ship can do in the Killer Whale op.  I don't even have a high skill point commander yet.  It's always nice to stumble onto a little gem of ship.  Anyone else find the Perth to be a boon in this op?

Not perth as I don't have one(a bit sad for someone playing from Australia /._\\)

But I find Ark Royal and Aigle probably the most fun ships in killer whale.

The ship that would make KW fun would be the one with the consumable to force your "teammates" to steer towards the exfiltration zone.

That. I don't think some folks even know that objective.

You couldn’t pay me enough to use a destroyer in that Op.

Ark Royal to be able to kill that (redacted) G-101, and other destroyers; more recently Ryujo to murder battleships.

Tend to use Warspite and Normandie for battleships.

Prefer not to use cruisers because mysteriously magical bot accuracy. Prefer to use a carrier to be able to spot, and to attack certain units more quickly.

I don't find that to be a problem.  If I see there are people headed towards the exit I make little or no attempt get to the exit point.  If things go wrong and you're going to be short a needed ship in the exit its not hard for me to yolo out and get sunk.

Yeah, I haven't taken the time to figure out how to play DDs in this op yet.  I know it can be done.

Funny, I play cruisers pretty much exclusively.  I like having the RoF that cruisers offer.  The key is don't put yourself in a position to be the target.  When that isn't possible then dodge your butt off while keeping your guns running.

I can’t count the number of times the only reason there was a win at all is because my carrier, sometimes even CQ fighting bots to do so, pushed through to the exit.

I wonder if T-61 or EG would work, since they have hydro.

Since so much of the time nobody spots worth a damn, and BBabies are afraid to get in the bay, a destroyer needs to be able to hide and spot for itself, because;

”Dispersion? We don’t need no stinkin’ dispersion!”

-any bot.

I’ve heard Leander is good, but I can’t stand that thing. I’ve actually seen a HuangHe do decently well.

I may have used Cleveland back in its T6 days.

Bizarrely, for all I think it’s reputation is blown all out of proportion, (what the hell good are Donkey guns on a T6 hull, when they take so long to reload?) I’ve used Molotov to decent effect in KW and Raptor. In most cases though, I’d rather use Budyonny.

In any case, I prefer to run a carrier in most of the Ops, because then I know the carrier driver’s going to do their job. So many useless carriers in Ops.

In KW for example; no spotting, not attacking critical ships, not getting out when they should.

I have been tempted to try out DD's in KW but am reluctant as it is not a strong type for me. I run cruisers and BB's depending on mood. And I am NOT afraid to enter the bay, just through the middle entrance.:cap_look:Budyonny works well for me, glad to see another fan. I also do well in Graf Spee, a polar opposite in cruisers. Pepsicola is my other standby. I don't care for CV playstyle so don't play them enough to even try in Ops. I want to contribute so kinda same as DD's.

What I do in my Aigle is help the clear out the forts then pitch on helping kill Nassau, her little dd escort and kolberg at the southern entrance to the bay when it gets like 5-6 minutes into the match, speed boost and camp at reinforcement spawn at A1. torp the BBs, HE the DD and AP the tenryuu and you'll have matches like these:

Perth is a great ship for all tier 6 Op's.

I run Perth, Leander and Huang-He in just about all Op's I do. Love having the H.E. option, especially vs forts. Use H.E. till 8.5 kms and under, then switch to A.P.

Don't have a Warspite but have found the Normandie frustrating for OPs. It SHOULD be good but RNG can really hate mine at times meaning I just can't deal damage fast enough. The red ships will hurt you or your team if you let them live long enough. Do better in cruisers. Molotov seems to work well for me. Have to give the Perth a try. Seems almost like an oversized DD.

I have seen others do well in DDs but have seen a lot more perform miserably. You gotta be good with that DD AND know that specific scenario to even think about bringing one.

Yes, and not just this one, overall I find it to be a good choice.

I like Dallas too for an operations cruiser.

My go to battleship for ops is Fuso. Lots of guns, good reload, good HE for the lower tier squishy cruisers, good AP for tougher targets, and long range all help against those many multiple targets you will face. It's not fast, but not too slow to be much of a drag on the team.

Normandie has always been one of my favorites, I think she decided I was a worthy driver, especially after I got her the Ocean Liner perma camo.

In Raptor and Aegis I prefer to use a carrier, so someone will spot. I’ve done well with Normandie, but have no particular memories from those Ops.

Depending a bit on positioning, I usually go north in Killer Whale. Attack entry forts along the way, then deal with the north forts, and the north Kolberg and Konig.

My Normandie is full secondary spec, so I deliberately brawl in that Op, (even with the forts,) so RNG doesn’t bother me much.

The Foreign Minister has been interesting in KW and Raptor, but the reload is so freaking slow.

Agreed. But does well in killing forts and can hit targets at ranges that a faster firing Dallas can only dream of.  Overall I like my light cruisers. Molotov is kind of a hybrid.
