The “cultural differences” was interesting, because all I hear from WG employees outside of the US is, “be respectful with your criticisms”, which seems to be in stark contradiction to how the Russian WG employees ostensibly roll, especially with Fems example with the PR PR disaster.

At last.  Now I know how to properly pronounce her username, which syllables to stress.

EDIT:  The "two ends of the pool" was an excellent analogy (14:07).

"Cultural differences"...

After years of hearing this, I'm skeptical, they have to know better by now.

"Casinos"...

It's the casino-like elements that REALLY turn me off, at least from my POV no one should mistake them for the good or attractive parts of this game.

"Customer service"...

Most of my experiences with WOWS CS have been pretty good.

"Unfortunate names"...

They still let Riga through.  PM me if you don't understand why that stands out.

"Benham grind"...

Yeah, that was garbage -- it should not have been locked participation in a horrible and utterly unrelated event.

Riga is a good name. I know a native Latvian who is excited to see the ship in the game.

I'm conflicted on how much to discuss why using the names of cities in independent states for Russian ships is troublesome here, it could go into verboten territory fast.

*eye roll*

PS - they aren't Russian ships, they are Soviet ships.

Considering Baltic states like Latvia and Estonia were within the Soviet Union for the time period of the game, they aren't that bad choices.

Agreed. I used to work with a Latvian who grew up in Europe during the war before coming to the US. He used to play on the burned out tanks. His view of the "professionalism" and "behavior" of the Soviet Army was very negative to put it mildly along with a strong dislike of the Soviet rule after the war.

Lets just say that, it is a similar reasoning why USS Kearsarge is the only USN battleship that was not named for a state.

How we memorialize history can make people unhappy and angry.

"Sensitivity" is another form of control.

Governments use memorials and ship names as a means of control.

So, yes. Welcome to the constant battle being waged by politicians to influence you to give them more power...
