We used to be able to over ride the 75 fps limit by editing a parameter  in the preferences.xml file, but that parameter isn't there anymore.

I looked in the ModStation and found a an option under the Other Modifications tab for Setting the FPS value, but the only available choices were 30 and 60 fps, the 120 and 350 options are grayed out.

Yes it is,

<engine_config.xml>
  <renderer>
    <cacheEffects>false</cacheEffects>
    <gammaCorrectionOutside>1.0</gammaCorrectionOutside>
    <gammaCorrectionInside>1.0</gammaCorrectionInside>
    <gammaCorrectionSpeed>0.2</gammaCorrectionSpeed>
    <tripleBuffering>true</tripleBuffering>
    <maxFrameRate>75</maxFrameRate>
    <enableTextureStreaming>true</enableTextureStreaming>
    <textureStreamingMode>2</textureStreamingMode>
    <useAsyncRenderThread>true</useAsyncRenderThread

Thank you, that was what I was looking for. I lost my cheat sheet on how to override the 75 fps limit and guessed wrong about where that parameter was specified.

Well, it depends on your monitor and graphics card capabilities... Ideally, 60MHZ monitor is cool but 120MHZ is way better for fast moving graphics. For first shooter games in where, the surroundings/main action are moving quite fast.. 120Mhz Monitor along with the Graphics card capabilities, are the standard.

The reason for the refresh cap from what I understand, it creates a little bit of an edge (120Mhz refreshes twice as fast then a 60Mhz monitor), so WG instead wants a level playing field.

The detail also helps in the aiming department, the amount of detail when graphics are moving fast or at any range moving fast, with a 120Mhz monitor.... Impressive..

My recommendation, if your GPU card have the capabilities... ALong with a good CPU card and 16GB of ram, I strongly suggest a 120Mhz monitor only if... You're going to use the monitor and the resources mentioned....For fast moving graphic type game or activity...

If you're playing say Civ6, a 60Mhz monitor is enough/sufficient...
