- After playing through the duration of the Public Test, and being a 5 Year Veteran of Steel Ocean, having significant experience with Subs in battles. I feel that  Subs Battles are going to completely change way everybody plays the game. Destroyers are going to have a higher purpose, being the key to making sure enemy subs are neutralized quickly and effectively so that Heavy Cruisers and Battleships can respond for their allies effectively. Because until then Battleships and Heavy Cruisers are going to need to stay at long range until the enemy subs are neutralized.

- Subs are a bit too strong. Having a automatic citadel with the homed torpedo's is way too much and brings a un-enjoyable experience to the match in general for all players. Also with a mix of Ships having Automatic Secondary Weapons and the basis of Subs needing to surface to avoid Depth Charges, I feel that the Secondaries on ships should be changed to manual control indefinitely to even the playing field because us as subs can not just stay under water when we are at threat of enemy Sub Torpedo's and Depth Charges along with assault runs by all the random people that never want to work as a team in matches. Also please give subs a Deck Gun. Subs need surface defensive capabilities against DD's and Light/Heavy Cruisers when they have to come up for air.

- Being a CV Captain I can honestly say that we have no way of supporting a Friendly from enemy Subs unless they are surfaced and can be attacked by Flight Squadrons. And a Sub needs to be underwater when it has to be, that's it's job and role. So perhaps give CV's plains that can drop a load of Depth Charges? Us CV's in turn can further support our friendly DD's in matches and be able to effectively respond to and protect our friendly BB's and Cruisers.

- Battleships and Aircraft carriers need more protection against subs. Those pesky ones that break through the line and wreak havoc on the Capital Ships. A Heavy Cruisers job is to support friendly DD's and also provide necessary cover for friendly BB's and CV's. In WWII, Sea Mines was a effective tool to ward off or destroy enemy Subs. So perhaps give BB's and the Heavy Cruisers something of that nature to defend themselves with while running from a Sub or needing to give a protective barrier for a friendly BB or CV.

Subs don't have to surface, they can dive deep and be pretty much immune to anything. They may be offensively neutered but they can wait out attacks, tie down that DD that has to hover over them waiting for them to surface. Probably exposing the DD to lots of return fire. Ships with slow turrets would have to keep their guns trained hoping the sub pops back up. Which wastes time that the ship could be shooting other ships.

Most secondary guns are a limited threat to subs. They are damn small targets that can usually just dive to escape all gunfire. Once again, the sub can dive out of danger if the threat is too high.

I suppose a deck gun would be a "last great act of defiance" item but overall, if the sub is gun fighting surface ships, things have gone horribly wrong. Very rare cases where the sub might be able to finish off a target before it finishes him. Now the plus side would be if it encouraged subs to TRY and gun fight ships.

Being a CV captain; you support your allies against subs by KILLING EVERYTHING ELSE.

Unopposed ASW is murder on subs.

A carrier can attack surfaced subs, sometimes, and it can force a capping sub to submerge by spotting it; but the carrier's time is better spent supporting its subs by spotting and attacking destroyers and cruisers, with attacks on battleships thrown in to keep them from bothering your cruisers.

Which means the DDs importance probably goes up but its life expectancy just went down. A lot. Even more critical to strip the other side of its DDs so your subs have free reign.

WG hasn't said if WHEN the subs go live will there be any kind of required balance between DDs and subs. What happens if everybody wants to play their new shiny subs and only a few want to play DDs (or CAs or BBs). Thats what happened in the Sub mode game in spite of added incentives to play other ships. There are already games with only one or no DDs. DDs may end up being critically important but if they are constantly spotted, focused and killed early, who will want to play them? Subs just add a new way to spot the DDs for the other team to shoot at.

Problem with stated limits is the eventual queue dumps of the excess into battles.

Don’t disagree.
