Why does Izumos superstructure gotta look like one of those Easter island statues 🗿?

Because it isn’t a late war design where ‘Ju- ga o-i hodo yoi,’ or; ‘More guns is better.’

Because it was designed before radar was common, so a higher superstructure gave it better vision and better ability to aim at distant targets. Later deigns got rid of the high masts and conning towers since they could rely on radar instead of eyesight.

Yamato has a large superstructure to but it doesn't look like Squidward's house like Izumo does.

Yamato's is actually pronounced, it just doesn't stick out as much because she has a chunky set of superstructure that's also bristling with guns.

The IJN were quite were quite fond of tall superstructures, the "Pagodas."  Kongo, Fuso (especially this class), Nagato, Amagi, Kii, Ashitaka, Izumo, Yamato, Musashi, and of course upcoming Shikashima... They all got notably tall superstructure.

Kongo-class Haruna below in 1918.

And her again in 1934 after one of her modernizations.

Yamato in 1944.  Very tall superstructure.

I was thinking it was a Kongo-class but looking at it more, probably a Nagato-class.
