The angle seems a bit off, but the two pictures seem taken from close to the same spot? (Shape of the saddle in the hills in the distance?) Plus, what’s that big concrete(?) thing in the water in the modern picture?

Different angles and the ship in the first picture was docked about where the red awning on the old Fitgers brewery on the right side of the current picture is. The concrete thing was a sand dock to receive sand from IIRC Ashland Wisconsin.

The locals call it "Uncle Harvey's Mausoleum"
