If you are talking about the clan tags, it’s because that color represents the clans standing in the current CW season.

No.
Now that the censors hide the names, Franz's post is unclear.
One name was gold.
Another silver.
One more copper.
Etc...

The ranks are ranked battles results.
Maybe it has been there since years and I just noticed that.
But not all names are the same color.
Of, course, Goltz is always gold, that's normal.

If you are not taking about clan tags: 

Carriers, Battleships and destroyers are grey.

Cruisers are blue to its easier to distinguish between them and BBs/DDs. 

Dead ships are black. 

You are gold.
