Not entirely certain; but I wonder if Johann Lindemann was related in any way to Ersnt Lindemann?

Johan Lindeman was the captain of the Dutch steamer Gouverneur Generaal Loudon, which was sailing in the Sunda Strait and barely avoided foundering during the 1883 eruption of the volcano Krakatoa, (Krakatau.)

Ernst Lindemann was of course captain of Battleship Bismark.

@Lert, as our resident Dutch seacat; do you have any idea if there is any connection between the families in the two countries?

No idea, sorry. Both Johann and Lindemann with double n are very German names, the Dutch variant names would've had only one n so there's a certain German heritage. And both being accomplished naval men, you'd think there might be some connection, but I don't know.
