which ships of which kind?

t9 and t10 usually tires me. Looking for less trouble, more winning.

It's basically random battles so whatever you would normally play.

Not basically random at all . With all the buffs you can play ships a lot more daring you get lots of heals and reload booster . You play a ship like the Musashi a lot closer up once you get heals and reload boosters turns your ship into a new ship .

I see a lot of tier 10 players playing like its just regular tier 10 game  . But its not you can play much more aggressive if your team picks up the heals , reload booster and steering gears .

i have been doing pretty well in my Haku with a 70% rate over 15 battles.   Other than Haku, i use my G Kurfurst because of the heal buffs

oh goodness. and its like 11vs11 or something... That's way to many people. This is just random arms race with more infuriation.

Maybe I should just pass this. I'm not sure its worth 10k coal.

I took my Georgia into a few games but it didn't fare too well. I couldn't get within secondary range because the enemy were too bunched up. I'm doing better in my Montana. I've seen players do well and poorly in most of the ships, just as they do in normal high-tier randoms. I'd say play the ship you are most comfortable with.

I got the Des Moines yesterday and I'm currently 7-1 with 104k avg dmg  and a 2307 PR in ranked with only 10 total battles with it (Smol Brag)

So the Des Moines

Tanky and tanky brawler battleships, super cruisers, fast HE spammers and specialist torp or gunboat DD's.

yeah this is like everything I DONT want to play in wows. t10, arms race, more rules and value-bending, too many players.

Nothing like the old T5 t7 ranked sprints with only 5-8 players or so where everyone feels like a contributor and focus fire isn't the name of the game.

Yes, arm's race. And like kishan, Hakuryu does really good.

What you don't want to take is alcohol.

You might lose your cool.

Last time I went in arm's race, red team needed a tranquilizer. A Hakuryu that has immortal planes is a nightmare. AA does damage, but that special heal makes them zombie. You have to be straight up reckless to lose planes after 2 heals stack. Then the evil CV fun begins. The cries of DDs. The cruisers flailing about like drunken octopi unable to land a single blow to a dive bomber. The helpless feeling as a BB is....

Okay, got carried away (pun intended).

But you get the idea. If you CV, then you can go full dark side, and Force choke red.

They complained last time. So I think WG wants to see it again. The unrestricted bombing of fleets by a juiced CV.

I might be tempted to go in...but only if someone asked me to. And it has to be one hell of a reason. Because going full Vader is hard to come down from.

It's like nothing on Earth... except that time I was on Rylos....

Lets see, a ship of the appropriate tier(s) for the season.

A ship your good in, as in REALLY AMAZINGLY GOOD IN.  If you don't have one of those, then a ship that your very comfortable playing and understand it's strengths and weaknesses.

Don't ask us for us advice on the specific ship to take.. were ALL biased.    Taking ship X because it's a DPM monster is bad advice if you don't know how to drive the silly thing.  When to use cover, when to not.  When to get stuck in, when to flirt, when to run and hide.  This applies to any ship recommendation.

If your asking because your a new player, then follow MY advice.  You cannot buy your way to victory in ranked battle of any kind.  You have to work for it.  You have to do the grind.   Most players that get there fast are mostly just lucky backed up with just 'nuff skill to see them through.  The rest of us have to grab our pick and shovel and get to digging!

Best of luck, have fun, stay the course, fight to win.

Aaaannnd, it’s not quite a sprint either, at three stars per rank.

I'll be taking the Alsace and Brindisi as those are the T10 I am currently working on.

It's Sprint, plenty of hard stops so long losing streaks are not a big concern.

First 3 games I took out my Benham.   Lots of fun, and won 2 out of 3.  But the amount of 12 km radar per match when you have 10.5 km torps made it a bit tricky.  Won 2 out of 2 in Bourgogne, but kept mentally kabitzing about what the DDs weren't doing, so I switched to Somers.  Won 7 out of 13, but did a lot more damage with torps, and some of the lost games were pre-ordained by half the team hugging the map edge.

I decided to combine objectives, and grind my Roon.  Hoping that by the time I get to rank 1, I'll be rewarded with 10k coal AND a shiny new Hindenberg.  So far, I've been doing ok.  Yes, the battles are T10-heavy.  I kept track for the first few battles, and found an average of 3 T9s per battle.  Still, it didn't feel much different from any old random battle.  I was also concerned that we might see something like the current CB season, with CVs and supercruisers, and not much else.  That doesn't seem to be happening, either.  Personally, in my first 5 games, I only saw one CV, though there are other people saying they're seeing CVs in almost every game.

So, I think what others have said is spot on.  Think of it as a T9/T10 random battle in arms race mode, and take whatever T9/T10 ship you feel most comfortable in, under those circumstances.  For me, that's a cruiser.  For you, it might be a BB, DD, or CV.  If you normally do well in the ship, you should do equally well with it in this ranked sprint.

Here is the thing.

Late in the game, when the cap circle arrives, holding it generates a VERY rapid accumulation of points.

Holding the central cap can win the game in a minute or two, no matter what the balance of ships.

Therefore, long range, edge of the map, kiting play styles can be fatal. The ability to hold the centre is critical.

A positive mental attitude and the ship you do your best in!

This is the kind of post that makes me want to give it a try where previously I was thinking of passing on it.   I can't get better by not playing it so I'll have to give it a shot now.  Thanks!

LOL...  I'm going to grind my Ibuki & Drake through it...   Neither is what I would call a good choice, but at 12 v 12 and ranked...Add to that tier differential in matches that, at least last night,  had virtually all T10? XP is awesome.. DBL XP coming up..     I'll have a T10 or two researched by the end of it.   I could grab a CV and probably whisk through it, but decided to go a different route last night.    I'd guess will get tougher by the late ranks?

I just can't see playing a gimmick mode for what?  A little bit of coal>>>?  Pass.  Not worth the time.  Good luck; and, you'all should consider getting out of the house and into the sun...!

Bring your CV, and sail straight into the cap in the beginning of the match for the win!
